They mention the Life Model Decoys early on in the movie which makes me think that they were hinting towards the "dead" Coulson being an LMD and that the "real" Coulson is still alive. Also, Gregg has also signed on for six films and has only appeared in five so far so...

    The thing about
LMD's, I don't remember them bleeding in the comics and it would really cheapen the death and the reason that team finally worked in the end.

People might want to know something without learning that Phil Coulson is Galactus or something. Instance: Person wants to know if people liked, it comes here and sees "HOLY SHIT I LOVED IT". If we allow spoilers, the person won't be able to come here.

Instance2: "Guys, does Steve say Avengers, Assemble?"

    We can say:
    Well, no.
and answer his doubt without revealing anything. Allow spoilers, that too will be lost.

How come War Machine wasn't in the movie? I know that he wasn't really an original Avenger but with what went down you gotta have a feeling that they'd reach out to him...

While I understand what you are saying if they want to know if it's any good they could go here instead of browsing a Transformers fan site movie forum :lol :

    You know....
Its not above Fury to lie that Coulson died. He could have been saved, in a coma, and Fury outright lied to the Avengers. Like he did with the cards.

^I wouldn't put that past Fury, but I really doubt it. In fact, I'd be rather disappointed if
Coulson ends up being alive in the sequel. I mean, comics have destroyed the impact of death as it is. At least it could actually mean something in comic book movies.

In the DVD release, they'll pull a G.I. Joe and redub Fury's line.
Instead of "They called it", they'll say "He fell into a coma.

Saw a few people throughout the thread talking about a Justice League movie. I'd read that Cavill had a multi-picture deal in his contract that might allow for a Justice League movie, and I wouldn't be shocked if they do that with all subsequent DC movies. I know Nolan wasn't interested in doing it, but they're already talking about rebooting Batman post-Nolan before trailers for DKR even came out. Heck, I'd also be willing to bet if Retaliation has a good box office, we'll see G.I. Joe vs. Transformers in the not too distant future, too.

The question is, of course, can people copy the Marvel model effectively, AND find someone who can pull the movie together as well as Whedon did? A big part of Marvel

Done right, G.I. JOE vs. Transformers could easily surpass Avengers as the best "superhero" film.

Except I don't categorize it as a superhero movie, just like the upcoming Battleship movie. Even done right the movie may not come close to the quality of Avengers, let alone surpassing it. TA has raised the bar so hight right now it's going to take a really superb movie to outdo it.

I saw the movie on the weekend and was really happy with the way it came together. I'm glad Marvel could get it done and show off a story with characterization and tone in a successful way.

I hope this paves the way for many more films of this quality. They got the cash!

Great movie, only one sticking point
In the end when Iron-Man nukes the mothership, why did all the other troops drop? It was never established in the movie that they were some sort of hive mind or anything. It seemed like a cop out to have all the bad guys just drop dead all of a sudden. All they needed to do is make it so Hulk does his jump catch thing, but they land further away. Add a "mopping up" scene and have the Hulk walk back with Iron-Man all limp and lifeless and pick up the movie from there. The sudden stop to the action was jarring and really pulls you out of the movie. I have a feeling that they needed to A) End the scene sooner than they wanted to and B) make sure they had a catch all so they didn't have to explain why there weren't any of these aliens left on Earth for Avengers 2.
    Other than that, great flick!

Yeah they could have dropped an explanation for that. It could have been a good excuse for an Independence Day joke.
