Thanks. When it comes to overall clarity, this one is killing the D4, but the slow shutter is killing me. I'm sure there's a quick shutter option, but I have yet to find it. Even setting it via info seems slow.

Thanks for the kind words. My daughter asked for a rainbow party for her 3rd birthday so my wife obliged with rainbow cupcakes.

The moon was shot through a telescope. I have a Meade ETX-90ec and I finally got around to buying the camera adapter. It literally hooks up to the back of the telescope like a big lens. The telescope has a focal length of 1250mm times the camera's 1.5x crop factor = 1875mm equivalent. I plan on playing with this some more. Focusing is very tricky.

The thing can only do 4(.5?) FPS, almost as slow as the D5000. But for 36MP files, it's not bad. The buffer is pretty big. The D4 just blows it away on that end.

Overall, I'd say it's the "best" FF camera on the market for the price, the versatility you get when scaling down, the ISO performance (better than the D700, yet 3x the MP), and the crazy amount of detail and dynamic range.

The thing has a 95 on DxO, beating out every other camera ever reviewed, even the Hasselblad MF cameras.
    Funny key chain.

I wish I could go back to DC. We were there for ONE day, the Martin Luther King memorial dedication.
I wasn't able to get shots of the memorial since it was closed until the following day, and we weren't able to visit anywhere else...

That's awesome. I've honestly wondered if that could be done, but never so much as to googled it.

Sounds like a fun time man, and me and the Mrs. actually enjoy that kinda' stuff.

Specs are specs, and it all really doesn't mean anything if it doesn't all work together in terms of performance. That's why I really don't do a lot of tech talk on here because it's all null-and-void if the listings can't be used effectively.

This speed is slower than the D5000, and the live view doesn't process as well (slight lag, but noticeable). However, the picture it takes in comparison to any other that I have is night and day, especially on product, and that's what really matters to me.

As of now, the D4 will be my outside/on-the-go, and D800 will be studio, and pretty much on a tripod the whole time. Both nice, but both SO different in use.

I really wish Liz was more into learning all of this, because the D7000 is now "just chillin" on a shelf. :(

How's the video? (on both the D4 and 800) Nikon seems to really have upped their game with that.

But yeah, the D4 is definitely the better daily use camera, fast everything.
Nikon *might* be releasing an "entry level" FF camera, which might be an update to the D700, which if it's somewhat affordable might be an option for me in the near future.

    - Video, I haven't even checked yet. I even hacked firmware to remove any time limiting. I look forward to the full 1080p experience, but probably won't bother with it until I do another review first. Since I'm using these guys, I'm back to having one battery set per camera, where on the d7000 I have 4, so I don't do as much "experimenting" as I'm used to, since I don't have batteries to constantly rotate out. Haha.

Attended a wedding today that was held by a lake in a local state park. Got a few photos to share. Nothing fancy, just stuff that I thought was interesting.

    Cool.

I recently discovered that there's a state park almost across the street from where I live, and I've been here 2 years, now.:(

Everything but the top of my head just turned into a werewolf.

    But seriously, Nice photos!

My first contribution to this thread, looking forward to any critiques /suggestions because I am slowly developing my interests towards photography and post-processing in general, thanks in advance :)

that's cute. Snakes, however, scare the hell out of me.

That flower picture is bee knees.

Both of these are awesome. It's sad that it was so cloudy in my parts last night that the moon wasn't even visible. :(

I really like the composition/framing on these.
