Cool, cause it sucked not being able to play/save PS1 games on my PS2. Would be cool if they do the look for a save file to open secret items.

    but an adapter....come on...

Read this before. It doesnt mention how the Adaptor piece you need to make this work, will also only work on the 600 Dolla high end PS3.

    Also PS1 saves worked on a PS2.

Yes but you couldn't save a PS1 game onto a PS2 save card, you would have to use a PS1 card.

Probably another $100, seeing as though the PS3 will go for $500-600.

it better be cheap, since you'll only need to use it once for each memory card, and then never again.

it shouldnt be an adapter. should be built in.

For every nice thing Sony does, it seems like they manage to simultaneously also screw it up. Bah.

An optional adaptor doesn't qualify something as compatible. Otherwise, I could say that the NES is Famicom compatible, the Genesis is Master System compatible, the SNES is GameBoy compatible, and the ColecoVision is Atari 2600 compatible. Taking third-party adaptors into account, I could also say that the N64 is NES, Famicom, and SNES/SFC compatible, the Game Gear is Master System compatible, and the PS1 is GameBoy compatible. Since you can't actually even use the card itself, but have to transfer the data to a different medium, I could go beyond that and include all the emulators available to play other games on N64, Dreamcast, PS1/2, Xbox, GBA, DS, GP32/X, and PSP. However, much like Sony's claim, that would border on being a lie.

Why cant they be bothered to make a slot for memory cards? It should be one of the least expensive things in the damn system.

Also, will Dual Shock 1 and 2 controllers work on PS3? I assume you will need a addapter, but is there any word on an addapter for the controllers?

Likely the equipment you need already exists. It'll probably work the same way gameshark save downloaders work. Much like devices used to download saves from the net and put them onto your memory card, I'd imagin this would work in reverse. Reading saves from your memory card and allowing you to put the save onto a memory stick.

That's my guess at least. Though Sony might change the data format making an existing device unusable.

...wait I didn't say anything anti Sony in there. Damn. Well there's always next time. I'm sure there will be plenty of oprotunities.

Who needs scalpers? It's sony's.. "Here is something we -should- have built into the system. But instead you get to buy it for the low low price of 49.99!"

if you dont want to pay for the un-priced adaptor then just start over with your old games on your ps3.
