Both versions come with it I think. I have the original release and it came with it. It isn't that impressive though.

    NO FUCKING SHIT...!
SWEET. I am all over that like a flannel. Now I can finally put away my 3 1980s US video cassettes of Star Fleet and get it on DVD instead! :)
EVerybody get their big hair ready and sing along with Brian May now... "Send a message out across the sky...."

Did you only have 3 ? Ah man you should have said so earlier.

It isn't Brian May singing the theme tune. he merely covered it. The theme is sung by Paul Bliss of - I think - The Moody Blues.

My humble appologies for digging up the remains of a thread that was last active more than 4 years old. This however is the thread most appropriate to announce that I finally received a vehicle that has been a minor grail to me for a couple of months: an excellent condition Ulysses 31 three part shuttle!

I used to love the Ulysses 31 cartoon on British TV when I was young, but for more than 25 years I did not realise that a French 'Ulysses 31' toy line even existed, and which actually included a very cool version of the shuttle often used in the cartoon.

I believe it was only ever released in France by Popy, and for that reason only was ever officially sold under a French name: La Navette d'Ulysse, although it is also informally known as the Ulysse 31 "Tri-partie" (in case you're doing an eBay search).

This one below isn't mine, but this French site shows what this vehicle is all about.

Even though the total length of this vehicle is only about 28 cm (11 inches), it's heavy as a brick due to the enormous amount of die-cast metal used. Not only that, but the wheels and the tracks are actual rubber (although this makes the tracks especially very delicate)! I was lucky enough to find one with both tracks still complete and whole.

Even though each seperate part of the shuttle is relatively tiny, the details and functions in each section are incredible. Dardos, the front triangular part, expands upwards to become a triangular wedge shaped shuttle with retracting landing gear and with a missile launcher on each side. Orbos is a 'flying saucer' with an opening cockpit and four very nicely concealed wheels hidden within the saucer, which fold out very cleverly to make the whole unit a sort of car. Orbos also has launchers which can fire the missiles which fit in the Dardos part. Finally, the rear of the shuttle is called Vires, and it probably has the most intricate 'transformation', with unfolding working rubber tracks, collapsible sides, an extendable bulldozer shovel and retracting fins. Vires too has launchers for the missiles.

Even though the (loose) Navette that I bought on eBay isn't entirely mint (slight chrome wear and paint chipping), it luckily IS complete including wheels, tracks and two missiles. It will most certainly have pride of place in my (non-Transformers) toy collection! I highly recommend it!

Now to find some of that Battle of the Planets / Gatchaman goodness...

Thanks for sharing. I didn't know there were toys for that show. I also love it. I made a papercraft NoNo with my son when he was younger. The thing that makes it so special is the French vibe. They are western but do things a little bit different and it shines through in the show.

Try watching Fantastic Planet , its another great French animation from about the same time.

Anyone here got the Diamond Select BOTP figures from a few years ago?

I've got all but Jason & Tiny....which seem to be scarce on ebay.

I feel like life is trolling me.
Why, oh why did it have to be Evolution Toy?! Does anyone think there is not enough going on here for even them to mess up and this will be worth getting?

Oh wow I hadn't see that one before. The price and the company have me iffy about it. I like the wing gimmick, but fear there could be issues with snapping.

It has a lot of the same features of the uni-five but it actually looks better.

That huge Fewture one should be out but it was pretty expensive for a toy that does nothing.

Yeah, I don’t know if I can do it but I REALLY want a God Phoenix with all the features this has. Damn!

Darn. I wish I had those excellent toys. I did used to make Star Fleet stuff out of Lego when I was a kid. There's some neat fan-made Lego stuff online that I must get around to making myself out of my loose bricks stash.

I blame Star Fleet for me getting into Transformers. Giant red robot that changed into vehicles? I was completely primed (if you'll pardon the pun) for when TF turned up about a year later.

Apart from my old Star Fleet VHS tapes, the dvd boxset mentioned earlier in this thread and the 'Starfleet Project' 12" record I picked up back in the 90s, all had been quiet on the Star Fleet front until a few months ago when my missus bought me the soundtrack I'd been eyeing online for ages.
