i think the design asthetic matches with classics very well and not su much MP designs.

the inner thighs are very indicative of classics designs IMHO, aside from them being the same height as classics OP they would be a great match. now if Igear came back and did a updated OP in this time of styling i would be all over it but i dont think faithleader matches the asthetic of classics figures.

of course this all my personnal opinion of what i want to work in my own collection and in no way reflects what i think everyone should do

No offense taken. I'm looking more for a Classics Ratchet and Iron Hide, and being voyager size is too large for Classics and bit too small for Masterpieces for my tastes. I sold off the Classics versions because of all the lines in vehicle mode and the faces looking downwards.

I guess my curiosity comes from the idea that Voyagers would be too big for classics. Ironhide and Ratchet are essentially always depicted as bigger than the rest in the cartoon, and these figures appear to be in significantly better "real world" alt-mode scale with classics cars than deluxes would be- vans being bigger than cars.

I mean, if we're talking strict alt mode scale, the only Optimus Prime that is in scale with classics cars is MP-10. Faith Leader is not. Classics Prime is not. I've never seen G1 Ironhide or Ratchet (or Trailbreaker) depicted as anything but between those two sizes.

Again, I'm always the guy out here saying "you don't have to want the same stuff as everyone else" and "people should care less about what's on other people's shelves," I just found that viewpoint intriguing. Thank you for discussing it like a normal person rather than a person who views every question about their tastes like an attack.

If Ironhide looks anything like that then it's insta-buy. Simple.

I agree with Billzilla and I want those to add into my classics colection, more ironhide and later may pick up Ratchet (More on warriors than medics here :p ). But for Oprimus I will go with Faith leader even knowing his vehicle mode won´t scale well with the rest, but then again mp10 would be too big for anything in robot mode, which to me is more significant in terms of scale (as if classics vehicles in general follow a strict scale anyway - Hello Drift and Blurr :p )

If I get Ratchet, because I do have reservations about paying for a bunch of extra garbage I'll never use, I'll be displaying him by himself. We need a good G1 Ratchet representation. This is what Third Parties should be doing. Shame I have to spend a hundred dollars and get all that useless nonsense with it.

Since you make a statement on what 3rd party companies "should" be doing, I'd like to know what they're doing that you feel they shouldn't.

Color me intrigued. Not baiting you or ANYTHING like that, I'm honest-to-god curious bc it seems like it'll be a good perspective to get.

That wasn't like some sort of soapbox statement or anything, just me talking about how much I want Ratchet. It's just I find these figures that fill in gaps that HasTak can't/won't fill any time soon to be more worthwhile than, say, the millionth Devastator figure/upgrade or some add-on that ruins a figure's aesthetics by trying to make them look like something they're not.

I miss the old days. When we were kids, the response to "no shit Sherlock" was always, "Then keep digging Watson!"

Back on topic, are people still arguing the size? The difference in size between Voyager Optimus and any Alternator is roughly 1/4 of an inch. It's barely noticable if at all. So I personally think they will fit in fine on a MP shelf. After all, do you stand your MPs at full attention or do you pose them? If you pose them, there is no question these will be fine.

Oh Faith Leader is not a bad decision. I have him and I can't bring myself to sell him (even though I promised myself I would to offset the cost of MP-10). He does't scale horribly with classics cars at all, he's just not "exactly right." But until I broke out the ruler, I thought he was.

I absolutely agree that it's a choice between making Prime too big or the truck too small. There is no perfect solution. Faith Leader and MP-10 both straddle that line.

Anyone who's interested in scale should check out this thread. A lot of this work has been done for you :)

WOW these guys look awesome! I like the color of the plastic to be honest, it looks better than the digibash colors to me ^_^
I've got these two on preorder and I think that they, like Faithleader, will fit my 'scale' collection VERY well. Faith Leader looks 'just right' to me in robot mode and he's 'close enough' in truck mode (biiiit small though), I'd debated MP-10 for a bit but he's just so TALL in robot mode he feels out of place with my primarily classic scaled collection (it's that he's as tall as MP Grimlock instead of shorter that makes it feel off to me).
The earlier prototype images of these two had them shoulder to shoulder with classics 'voyager' Prime, which makes them JUUUUST right for my collection ^_^

Also, Billzilla, thanks for the like to the scale thread, it's very interesting! ^_^

I agree! Unfortunately the OP seems to have gone on hiatus so many of the more recent discoveries (including much of the Prime line) can only be found in the replies. But I love that thread, it is my bible.

If anyone's wondering, MP Grimlock is between 1/40 and 1/45 (assuming he's intended to be the size of a "real" T-rex) So, yes. He is undeniably smaller than MP-10 and in scale with Faith Leader, RTS Windcharger, RTS Perceptor, and Classics Ironhide/Ratchet.

Yeah, I had the classics prime henkei and sold it to pay for Faith Leader, and since truck mode is almost same size and that never bothered me before I went with Faith lleader to go with those two :)

And thankies for the link... oh how helpful this is, really!

probably going to pick up ratchet, maybe wait till i see ironhide on sale or something later in the year. igear is all over the place with prices, some MP aeekers are $100, some are over 150, shattered glass faith leader (or whatever) is like $69, and these deluxes are what, $115?

definitely want to see a review. lookig at most of the igear photos, these guys have a slight lean forward in almost every pic, and the legs are positioned almost the same way in every photo. kinda makes me wonder if theyre not back heavy and tough to pose, and i have some general questions about posability with the legs.

Those are not deluxes... I wonder why a lot of people think they are...
    Here comparison to classics Optimus:

As for backhavy, doesn´t seem like it since the back parts aren´t very prominatent and I assume part of those are hollow, in fact if you trace a vertical line from center of the foot base to the center of the head, the body structure in itself is verticall, however the kible seems to be mostly diagonal pointed down to the front both in feet and torso which gives a huge sensation of the body being leaned forward more than it actually is....

I noticed in that pic the "heels" arent touching the ground either. I hope it will be pretty well posable.
