Skip to 8:25 to listen to Eric laughably explain the things you apparently "need" to know in order to be considered a "true" Transformers fan. It's times like this when it's hard to watch a person's video of whom you're a fan of.

 

I don't agree with all his five points, but I definitely agree with the last one on his list - the part about Furman.

 

What's this have to do with the movies?? Outside of him bashing them and saying he's argued with a 5yr old, and tools them it wasn't really transformers...

 

As if all people care about who writes the story, I do, but some don't.

 

Well, they'd damn well better care. Depending on the writer, a TF tale could turn out as a great piece of work, or as a steaming pile of horseshit. Furman is one of the few writers who knows his TFs and treats TF fiction as more than just a vehicle to sell toys.

 

Ha ha, I do love attempts at the rather odd idea of what a "true fan" is.

I can see a point in needing to be exposed to more than just one version of Transformers. It would be a bit like saying what a big Batman fan you are if you had only watched Batman Beyond. But the check list sort of thing for being a fan just doesn't work.

 

Not so sure about the last one, because no offence, I don't exactly read comics but I do know who he is.

 

if you say you are a fan of something then you are a fan of whatever it is. this guy is just a total loser. i personnely know 4 of his points but have no idea who this simon is. just for that in his view i'm not a fan of transformers.

 

Simon Furman is over-rated. I love the guy, but Christ, he's not the end-all be-all of writers.

 

This. Occam's Razor. You know what makes you a "true" Transformers fan? Liking Transformers. In any capacity. Doesn't matter what. If Energon is the only thing you like, you're still a "Transformers fan". If you hate Beast Wars but love Animated, you're still a true fan. Only like G1? Still a fan. Don't know who Furman is but love Bayformers? Got news for you. Still. A. Fan. Care only for RID? Yep, still a true fan. Only read the comics? Only watch TFP? As long as it's about Transformers, you're a fan.

 

The only requirement to be a fan of Transformers is to like Transformers.

 

Very odd rules to be a "TRUE FAN!" It doesn't matter if Energon Bulkhead is the only Bulkhead you know of, or if Victory is the only cartoon you like, what matters is you can still be a Transformers fan by just liking something from it, be it a cartoon, movie or comic series.

By the way, to the person who made this review: Script much?! Or at the very least Edit out um bits much?!

 

Ignore him and move on with your life. It's counter productive to get all offended at the views of others and then post them. In my mind you're not being that much different than them.

Yup. Even if you're only a fan of Kiss Players you're still a Transformers fan.

I might not want to sit next to you while you're enthusing about robotic tentacle porn and all that KP is, but you're still a TF fan regardless.

 

Argument attepmts to define who is and who isn't a "true fan", automatically loses all legitimacy.

Discussion related to personal opinion on other site regarding an illegitimate argument, irrelevant.

 

I know it's scary, but I was actually going to put that example in my rant.
