eh, i am all for less litigation, but I honestly thought this was a slam dunk for Hasbro given the level of exposure Transformers has had as a brand the last 7 years. Plus, i think Hasbro essentially HAD to at least make the attempt to protect their trademark in this arena.

I'm also surprised Hasbro lost this one considering it's one letter off from its current toy line and tv show.

LOL! The Judge must have been a G1 fan.

Shrek-formers should be the last ones suing someone for trademark infringement anyway.

    The nerve.

It's an insulitng term YoungPrime uses for Transformers Prime because it's CGI related. Pay no heed to it.

You keep saying words. Somehow they don´t translate to reality. Funny.

My theory is that the judge was a Transformers Prime First Edition toy fan. In his attempt to get back at Hasbro for not properly distributing those figures, he ruled against them in court.

Don't try to reason with him mate trust me. He's never going to change his opinion on Prime. Let him be and ignore him.

My guess is that Asus slipped this one past Hasbro on a technicality. Their laptop is called Transformer Prime - note the missing "s" on the end. That's the key factor legally. Hasbro may have trademarked Optimus Prime, but they haven't trademarked the word Prime, it's a common word in the dictionary. Similarly, while they may have filed a trademark for the series / name Transformers Prime in the eyes of the law, Asus are using a different name for a totally unrelated product. There is no way anyone could confuse toy robots with a laptop and while Hasbro may have a large number of trademarks for different character names (and the overall Transformers brand name) they can't trademark the words "transformer" or "prime".

I don't understand why you would name a tablet "Transformer Prime"? I mean, it has nothing to do with what it does...

If you think Prime is bastardizing Starscream, you obviously know nothing about Starscream.
