I don't think Michael Bay likes the Autobots.

both the autobots and humans are on the same side as the good guys, though. Would have been different if it was like the first film and the humans never realized the Transformers weren't all out to destroy humanity, but sadly, that's likely a story for another time.

The human "bad guys" really aren't a factor compared the human "good guys".

Sector Seven in the first film quickly moves from bad guys who see all Cybertronians as a threat to supporting the Autobots and the special forces squad.

Second movie the extent of human badness is for one person being the jerk to tell the Autobots they can't do something.

Third film it's just the jerks saying leave Earth and a rich guy working for the Decepticons.

Kind of hard to compare human bad guys being rude to the Autobots to the human allies who have been responsible one way or the other to a lot of Decepticon deaths.

The Decepticons have been vastly outnumbered and out gunned by the good guys.

Well he sure as hell doesn't like the Decepticons for all the lack of character we received on their part. Does that mean he doesn't like Transformers altogether? I say yes.

Did you miss the whole part where bay announced when rotf came out that the twins where his favorite characters and he only took them out because he wanted to make dotm a good movie and with them in it, people would just start to whine about racism and intolerance against blacks.

In what other universes are the military a potent threat though? I think the military need to be a threat but they are overpowered. You'd think that Cybertronian metal wouldn't be as susceptible to damage from human technology. Yes I know, an explosion is an explosion but still.

Human forces are kind of a threat in the marvel comics, but only because the Autobots don't want to wipe them out. The Decepticons pretty much shrug off anything humans throw at them, hence the genesis of the Neo-Knights.

Usually (marvel comics, masterforce, ____masters) outside of the movies, humans are only able to go toe to toe with the cybertronians when they have access to cybertronian technologies.

This is a discussion that's been had time and time again, but I liked the humans actively participating alongside the Autobots, rather than just cheering from the sidelines or being helpless. I feel that human weaponry (espsecially when established earth technology originates from cybertronian tech and that the operatives have received training on the weaknesses of the cybertronians) being able to damage the transformers makes the films seem more realistic, not less.

Most alien invasion films of humans vs aliens have their moment when some weakness of the invaders is found and then the humans start kicking butt. For example in Independence Day once the shields are taken out by the computer virus the humans are kicking alien butt left and right.

I think the difference with Transformers is that we don't really need the military to be heroes because we have Autobots for that role. Kind of like how you really don't need the military if you have someone like Iron Man or Superman to save the day.

If it's some kind of superhero movie the general rule is the human military gets badly defeated by the bad guy to show just how much we need the hero to save us. BayFormers started well with that with the first Blackout scene, but then abandoned that idea and just decided the military should be (almost) as effective as the heroes. But then since the human military are the heroes in BayFormers too it gets a bit crowded with both them and the Autobots laying a beat down on the poor Decepticons.
Heck, the real bad guy in DotM was an Autobot so it's almost like Bay was trying to get rid of the Decepticons altogether. I fully expect the next TF movie to have no Decepticons at all and phase out the Autobots. By TF5 it'll be just humans and no TF at all.

If the Autobots could beat the Decepticons on their own, they would have by now. The war is millions of years old. It's a stalemate. I have no objection with humans helping to tip the scales in the Autbots' favor.

    That's not the problem w/ Bay's TF movies... :)
