I had trouble getting into Ratchet and Clank for the PSP because of the lack of the second analogue stick. Now there's no excuse.

Went out today and took advantage of my TRU's sale on Vita and 3DS games. Got Katamari and Wipeout, and a digital download version of Lumines. With these games it feels like a PSP all over again! :D  And as I write this, I find that MotorStorm RC is out. So much to play! Although I think after today, I think Vita has a bit of a drought coming on.

Not if you like Silent hill. I didn't even know that there was a Vita SH game coming this month. And unit 13 came out today along with a new potter Lego game that I didn't even know about.

    I freakin love Wipeout

True. I think SH and Ridge Racer are the only other retail games coming out this month. But Ridge Racer has some sort of horrible DLC scheme. I think the Silent Hill game would normally appeal to me, but this one is top-down. Not really a fan of adventure games in that style I'm afraid.

Also, I normally dont use them, but Wipeout came with an online pass. Should I bother putting it in and playing online? If I dont bother with online, am I missing anything on this game?

Not tried Wipeout personally, but my angle would be "I've paid for this pass, I might as well use it.". Even if you try online once and don't like it, at least you've given it a go and used up the bloody thing.

I friggin hate online passes though.

I agree with Creaky. Just use it. Even if you trade the game in, the store will sell it as used. As for missing something, yeah kinda. I haven't found a bloody match online, but online it looked at as a campaign, so you actually do various competition, etc etc. It's probably the most robust online mode of any of the launch titles.

I just realized that Silent Hill is top-down. On one hand, yuck... on the other hand, the co-op sounds fun.

Motorstorm RC is really great. Took me a moment to get used to the controls but I love it. Really wish there was actual MP but the ghosts and asynchronous is fun. You can buy any of the vehicles for $0.49-$0.99, all are unlockable getting medals except one vehicle per class (and a pie vehicle for the Rally class thats free, but I was getting errors trying to get it). The trophies look like there will be two more events available with 8 and 12 races for them.

Which control scheme did you use? I chose the turn to turn, not the point to turn. I couldn't get used it

I stuck with regular. I got lost with point to turn, if it controlled acceleration too I would have probably used that. I have to use the aerial camera too, the others destroy my mind and I forget how the hell to play.

    Just finished Uncharted.

Wow, that ending sucked. Somehow, reducing the two antagonists to quick time fights is even more annoying when it's touch screen based. Particularly when they take frigging ages. I know things are always cinematic in this series, but when it becomes not fun it's a price too far. I did think that the 'gimmicks' were implementaded okay for the most part (meaningless jigsaw puzzles with no plot relevance and the friggin beam balancing aside), and the action was far and away better than I ever thought I'd see on a handheld.

If future devs build on this, get over the "must throw in everything" mentality, and wrap their heads around just what the console can do graphically, and how to squeeze out nicer effects, then this handheld is going to rock every sock I possess. Characters were detailed as hell, the world could use a bit of something to distract from low rez textures once in a while (depth of field, perhaps would be nice in open environments) but some of the effects (explosions, etc) were a little psp quality, in that there were one or two times I thought they were made of squares.

I really hope some top devs get into this kit and don't just dismiss it like many did with the psp. Rockstar could do something awesome, I think. Kojima, for sure. I'd also really like to see a Dark/Demon Souls game on here, as I belive the creator of that franchise hinted he was looking into.

But now I have nothing to play on it, till I get paid. :(

Also really want Sony to jump onto the Remote Play features (since hacked ps3s can run remote play with the entire library - such as BF3, with some slight lag - a professionally done remote play patch for ps3 & vita could let me play Red Dead or Assassins Creed in bed. :D ). Also, PS2 classics. If I can cart San Andreas and Timesplitters around with me in my pocket, I can die a happy man.

I really hope some of this stuff comes into the picture, right now I really think the Vita is for dedicated gamers only, and then only with the cash. The stuff I've mentioned could make it essential, IMO. :D

    I agree that
having an ending where you fight two main antagonists back to back
was a pretty poor decision from both a gameplay and storyline perspective. However, I think this Uncharted was still really fantastic. I actually liked all the gimmicky portions, but I wish they could be incorporated a bit better into some exploration type gameplay. Also, gyro aiming with the controller was awesome, very accurate. Overall, I think this game, despite its lack of large set pieces was fantastic. Better than Uncharted 3 at least. Not as good as Uncharted 2, but might be tied with Uncharted 1. :)  Now I want a sequel, get working on it Sony/NaughtyDog/Bend!!

Did they fix the comabt in uncharted? Because one of my biggest complaints about the first one was how annoying those segments were. The shooting aspects felt morel like an after thought then anything else.

Oh I do agree, the game was brilliant, and for me has redefined what handheld gaming can be. Developers have no excuse to half ass a shitty tie in now.

I think some wider exploration for things as you say would have been cool. Maybe having all the treasures contribute to a larger puzzle in some way, and you can save up all your non plot puzzles for later, and acess them from the menu or something. Perhaps tie in the treasures as clues. Kinda how Assassins Creed does collectables, with something to earn at the end of it, and the more pieces, the better your chances.

Huh. I always liked the combat. It felt fluid and fun. But since the handheld version plays exactly like it's big screen brothers, I guess no, they didn't fix it, as far as you'd be concerned. :(  At least not in any way that I noticed. It was still defined by pre-built set pieces that felt slightly on rails, but thats a criticism I level at 90% of action games on the market. (Unless, of course there were some changes in combat between Uncharted 1 and this that I've forgotten?)

Anyway I always liked it best when it turned into a pseudo stealth game. Normaly I hate that in action shooters, but it's integrated so smoothly in this series it feels natural. I'd love it to be expanded on if they ever do more sequels, and give Drake the ability to hide again, and more open set pieces that felt less on rails.

Will say though I thought the melee was a bit naff, due to being touch gesture based. It mostly worked, but there was times where it didn't seem to read my imput, and promptly got me punched in the face by a bullet.

Went to pick up ME3 today and ended up purchasing Unit 13 for Vita as well. Pretty fun game, the action is very smooth and it feels like a console TPS on a handheld. Online co-op works well also, didn't experience any lag in the couple of games I played.

Slowly but surely my Vita library is growing, so far I've got:

    Uncharted GA
    Shinobido 2
    Dynasty Warriors Next
    Unit 13
Mega Man X Maverick Hunter (PSP)

I'm really glad I got my Vita and actually can't imagine not having one now, it's become as essential to my gaming as my PS3, iPad and PC have.

I think I might pick up Silent Hill for Vita. It's not a traditional Silent Hill, but still.
