I really don't think any sane person would remake the 1986 movie and someone would have to pretty deep into the insane realm to go there with a movie.

Don't get me wrong the 1986 has it's moments but when it gets bad oh by the love of all that is geeky does it get bad. I think we've all had enough "Bah weep gragnah weep nini bong" without having to drag that out again only in the Bay style of Transformers.

It's so nice having a Bay insider on these boards. What's it like working with Michael??

I think this video looks cool, and shows the G1 style CAN work, but obivously this is too crude for a big budget movie. With several refinements and a combining with the movie style, this would be awesome.

Source? If Spielberg did that, I'd be totally forgiving for the lack of appreciation of the franchise and it's longtime fanbase. It just feels like the old fans were told to fuck off in the new movies in so many ways.

Uh? What. If by your snarky comments you meant to suggest I'm stating opinions as fact, consider this: Bay says: DOTM is my last TF movie. He hastily and unnecessarily kills off all major antagonists. States his next movie will be Pain and Gain (which has been in development for years, but noone has wanted to distribute.)

Next thing you know, there's a two picture deal from Paramount to do Pain and Gain and... Tf4. If you think Bay is doing TF for anything other than to do what he TRULY wanted to do (his small film), you're either delusional or in denial. You don't wrap up and hastily end a franchise you love and want to continue (especially when the written ending in earlier drafts left the movieverse more open).

Thanks for the snark though. Your asinine comments are noted.

Who thinks the fact Spielberg could have directed TF1, but personally picked Bay, shows how fussed he is about directing?

Yeah...if that had been the case then that might have proved something.

I'm starting to get the feeling that the only way Micheal Bay is ever going to get away from doing Transformers movies is to either quit and start working for another studio or to make a Transformers film that is Batman and Robin quality to kill the franchise for a while.

Without the big franchises that other studios have it seems like Paramount will do just about anything to keep strong arming Micheal Bay into Transformers films.

Well, eventually the cheque they're willing to offer just won't have enough zeros on the end and they'll have to find someone else, though whether the limiting factor is what level of return they can expect on the film or how much Bay will want in compensation is the real question.

But yeah, as long as the films remain wildly profitable there will be a massive incentive to stick with the profitable formula (which includes Bay), and to do whatever is cost-effective to ensure that forumla continues as much as possible.

Zero probability. They would rather tell a new story than rehash an old one. Don't get me wrong, I love the 1986 movie. Just saying, it's not getting redone.

Strong arming is a funny choice of words. Studio to Michael Bay. "How about we double your salary with incentives Mr Bay?". Michael Bay "Um, sure. Since you twisted my arm.". I think money talks.

EDIT: Much as i would love to see a fan version like this... i don't see why big name people would put their efforts into a re-do.

    No.

    NO

The 86 movie was a box office flop, NOBODY will want to see a movie made to kill off a cast to make room for more toys.

And to the person who posted a DrSmoov video as evidence. I like DrSmoov and all but he doesn't make Hollywood quality CG. He makes his CGI enough to help him portray the story. They tried G1 in 2006 while testing at ILM and it looked horrible.

how come no one ever wants NEW stories and NEW characters in transformers? how come it's always g1, and it is always remaking the original movie? :lol

yea remake transformers the movie; a 90 minute pg movie, into a 2 and a half hour r rated film?

if that was so, then one would right off the bat, not be remaking the movie, not if they're doubling the time spanned, and changing the target audience! :lol

remember guys! transformers are AIMED at 5 to 10 year old kids. :lol

XORRECTION: Transformers is NOT jsut "aimed at kids"...If that was so, would you be on here discussing this? Transformers is for everyone, and if you think of the content in the original 86 movie there WAS cursing and that wasnt for "kids" back then. It showed a sorta-evolved state in the toy line targeting at the older audience. your opinion is somewhat "inferior" in that case ^.^

The reason I posted the DrSmoov video wasn't to say that they should do the next feature film, but to show the viability of the original designs in a CGI format. Imagine what a powerhouse like Pixar could do!

This has to be at the dozenth time someone as proposed simply remaking G1. I'm fine with the G1 era to remain in the G1 era. I don't need someone to try and remake it when I have it already.
