Say what you will about Bay, but he comes in on time and under budget. Not sure what further "control" Paramount would want or need over the dude.

Exactly - kind of echoes what I just said above. My favorite trend in recent weeks is seeing Brad Bird's name suddenly show up. Obviously people went to see MI4 a few weeks ago, liked the action, so boom!, now Brad Bird should direct Transformers movies. Yeah yeah... The Incredibles... Iron Giant... :)

Exactly my point from earlier. Nolan is possibly my favorite director ever next to Scorsessee, but I'd never even remotely suggest either of them to get behind Transformers, let alone think it was even a possibility. They'd just NEVER do it, so why harp on it? Same with Cameron. He may have helped Bay with his 3D setup, but the guy will NEVER take on that franchise. He's too big to take anyone's sloppy seconds, and he's too much in control of whatever he wants to do now. Del Toro... another one. Yeah he did an amazing job with the Hellboy movies and Pan's Labrynth... because those were right up his monster alley. But him tackling CGI real world robots with a nonstop action backdrop - which he would never do? Not a chance. Same goes for Jackson. The guy hit it out of the park with LOTR and probably will again with The Hobbit, but did anyone see his remake of King Kong? Or his earlier movies? The guy would be an absolute disaster behind Transformers. And again, he's another one who simply would NEVER do it anyway. And the list goes on & on. Spielberg? Well... we've seen what he does with his version of sci-fi multiple times now, so how anyone thinks he would ever be a good choice for a franchise like this is beyond me. Hell, even HE knows it - which is why he went for Bay. And right there, being the executive producer, is why he too will NEVER happen anyway.

I'm not going to name names since I'm sure it would just turn into a debate, but there are only about 4-5 known (and reputably GOOD) directors out there right now that I can think of that make any sense whatsoever who A) have the directorial versatility, B) the visual & stylistic sense, C) the proven experience & track record, and D) actually fall within the realm of possibility to take over Transformers.

I'd get behind this. The man can competently handle special and visual effects, have a great all-star cast, and tell a cool, fun story.

Plus, you know that Zemeckis-formers means two things:

    1.) Michael J. Fox as Bumblebee/Hot-Shot/whatever kid-friendly character
    2.) CHRISTOPHER LLOYD. AS. WHEELJACK.

Christopher Lloyd would make an awesome Wheeljack! & a cool plot could be about Wheeljack building a Time Machine & everything that could possibly go wrong w/ that... :lol  I actually have that as an open plot thread in my comic. :lol  Wheeljack has a T.A.R.D.I.S. he doesn't remember making.

I do agree. However, what I meant was that they would maybe go for someone who they can be sure will end up making a cardboard-copy of a Bay film, because it’s a winning formula, rather than they’re own thing. A director like Bay would want to do his own thing, but Paramount might be a bit apprehensive to allow anything else other than a Michael Bay-styled Transformers film. So there’s a fair possibility they'll just go for some director with no spine who will just do everything they ask him to. I hope it doesn’t come to that.

Woah dude, The Na'vi or whatever they're called are human in nature though. They aren't "machines". How much characterisations did the Terminators get for example?

To be fair, no one has said anything about TF5. Bay even made clear that, whilst he has signed on for two films with Paramount, only one is a Transformers film. Obviously we know the other is Pain & Gain.

    Anyway, what's this other news?

While we are all very appreciative of your efforts, we would all just rather hear the news rather than be told there is news coming.

we have to see if TF4 is succes aswell cause TF4 is only beign made due to the success of DOTM. but what i meant is that thelastprime said that tf4 and 5 would be made back to back, but bay confirmed he only signed to make TF4 ONLY (as of now), which means TF4 and 5 wont be made back to back

Both excellent years for me :D  You know, one man's trash and all...

Anyways rumor or not I'm looking forward to it. Though hopefully we get something other then Optimus and Bumblebee from the line. Prime, for me, is a total tank. Only things I have to look forward to until the next film are whatever comes from the new generations line, which won't be much I'm sure.

Unless that other rumor turns out to be true that said they're considering filming TF4 and TF5 simultaneously. That's what was buzzing around various entertainment sites a couple months back anyway.

I think that would be the smartest way to go about it since randomly dropped in fourth movies usually look & feel like randomly dropped in fourth movies, it's a an all inclusive "one more time - go out with a bang" project for Bay that gets him two more movies for the time & stress of one that frees up his directing schedule and allows him to finally move on, and it guarantees the studios, fans, etc. two years/movies worth of officially wrapping up this Bay version of the franchise.

But we know that Bay is shooting Pain & Gain soon, too. So he's going to be shooting three films this year, carried over to next year? I really doubt anyone, even Bay, could handle that.
