Sadly he was one of those buy it online asap figures. He's also one of my favorites from the line.

I just looked on ebay and he has gotten quite pricey and rare. :(

Oddly enough there is one missing it's head and forearm for dirt cheap. This is interesting because I was toying with picking up a second one and trying to swap parts with ROTF deluxe Ravage. The problem is we're getting ready to move so my alt ravage is in a box in the basement (he'll definetly be back out), so I can't compare the size of pieces to see if it's worth trying...

I had the opposite experience. I had a couple of each and ended up wanting to replace my Alts with Binaltech because the Alts were so much less satisfying to me. You look at a couple of them next to each other, like Alt Optimus and BT Optimus, and the Alternator version looks like a sad joke. In either mode.

To this day, it bothers me there isn't a Binaltech version of the Mirage/Rodimus Ford GT. I mean, they did one, but it was a stupid clear plastic exclusive thing.

I miss the new mold reveals and fondly remember the first time i saw BT Smokescreen ("Holy F*ck"), not to mention fiddling with BT Lambor for hours on end.

I don't miss the sharp drop in QC that kicked in around BT Lazerwave, or the way in which the line was hijacked as a cash cow about as soon as Tomy came in.

It'll never be the same again, and that's that. Transformers is a different brand from what it was in 2004. Some ways worse, some ways better.

Nope. The ROTF and DOTM large HAs were the closest we got to Alternators. I do quite like Alternators and lines similar to that (Alternity) and plan on getting a Binaltech Sideswipe, actually.

I for one don't miss them. Maybe if they were in scale with Deluxes I'd get them, but I'm not really a fan of larger figures.

Welcome to Alternity. They have better robot modes anyway. (plus you only have to buy 4 toys to have every mold in the entire line)

Yeah, I miss Alternators (not the crappy distribution and odd repaints, though).

To me, the Alternators started off good, then fizzled.

It sure wouldn't hurt MY feelings if Hasbro gave them another go-around.

I don't miss them. I do like big figures that are in scale to most deluxes but Alts are not in that scale. They look nice as cars but I don't care much for cars.

    OP:

Over at the Funnies forum, the Alts never really left, so they've got their fans.

I do like the four I have. What would be really cool would be if Hasbro decided to follow the same theme with some older, classic cars. Picture a Hot Rod that turned into a '41 Willys.

I love scale among Transformers. Alts and HA were great because smaller characters were smaller and bigger characters were bigger. With Human Alliance, all the human figures can interact with all the vehicles without any issues, increasing playability.

I missed them too! They are my favorite "modern" line. I mean, who WOULDN'T love real-world vehicles with real world decos being used for Transformers?

Exactly. G1 was founded upon this, and it's one of the many things that Alts/BTs hit on when older fans got into 'em.

If someone hasn't read this, they're only hurting themselves: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-funnies/171688-out-dead-land.html

I've got a fair few of the line but unfortunately they're all in storage as I've got nowhere to display them.
