On second thought, perhaps this should go in Video Discussion. Mods, please move this if necessary.

Now, onto my question: Was Transformers: Robots in Disguise released to DVD in its entirety? From what I can tell, they were, but it's getting really frustrating trying to find all of them on Amazon. So far I've only found part of S1 and the full S2:
Transformers - Robots in Disguise Box Set 1.1 [DVD]: Amazon.co.uk: Transformers: Film & TV
Amazon.co.uk: Transformers - Robots In Disguise - Series 2 [DVD]: Transformers: Film & TV

I'm going to keep searching, but in the meantime, I'd really appreciate any help!

Yep, it was. The entire series was released as an Ultimate Edition in 2008 in the UK, which repackaged Season 1 and 2 in new packaging.

Unless you're in the US. In which case, nope.

But the set you linked contains up to episode 39, which is the last one.

there actually is a "40th" episode-it wasnt the 40th episode to air in the u.s. because of the missing few that didnt get aired, but after the very last episode and the story is all told and done they aired an extra "clip show" in the u.s. and i use the " because you can barely call it that.it had no title, and it had NO "additional scenes" and original dialogue like the other clip shows.i was taping the episodes as they aired onto vcr tapes.afterwards, whenever it came time for a run-through,sifting through six different tapes trying to que up the next episode in line got tiresome.so at some point a few years back i hooked two vcr's together and consolidated the run of episodes [taking time to determine and choose the best quality ones of course!].i ended up with the whole thing fitting on two eight hour tapes-with no room at the end for that extra clip show!! like i said,it contributed absolutly nothing original, had no place to go in the episode order,so it ended up getting thrown away.[i was still under the impression that some day i'd get a nice dvd box set of the series]
but this "episode" exists,it aired, somebody, somewhere out there has got to have it.but believe me,if you go through any trouble at all trying to find and watch it you'll be like "WTF?this isnt even an episode."

Yes, Pitt, that's "The Mystery of Ultra Magnus". It's one of the 39 RiD episodes, having been created to replace the Car Robots clip-show, "Gelshark's Blues", but like a bunch of other episodes, wound up airing well out of order. In fact, all three of the RiD clip shows ("Lesson of the Past" and "Hope for the Future" being the others) are different from the Car Robots shows they replace.

oohh i see that the ultra magnus clip show aired last.that wasnt it though.maybe after putting everything in order i was left with that episode, remembered a clip show had aired last and thought this was it.it didnt have a title,i think the majority of it was combaticon battles.it didnt have "bookend" dialogue of any sort.
thanks to the you tube thingie i know about the episodes that didnt get aired, and how the clip shows dont fit in the order they are presented.i just view them where they "belong" in the chronology.
i've never been able to compare RID to car robots episode for episode but there where some episodes they couldnt air in the states but did air in canada, which later ended up getting "summed up" by a couple clip shows [which aired out of chronological order] no?
this wasnt any of those.it'll turn up,or at least info on it will,if the right people dig in the right places.i dont know, the networks that broadcasted the series for the first time in the u.s.?

I don't think the episode aired in Canada either. Where I lived, it was only shown on Fox, the american network, and no Canadian networks carried it.

yeah,it probably wouldnt have aired in canada-it didnt seem to be something cobbled together in order to give the u.s. viewers "cleaned up" summaries of the unaired episodes.it just had no point at all.it was just some battles.

The second RID clip show, "Lessons of the Past", is what you're describing here - it's almost entirely an abridged retelling of "Landfill", one of the episodes that wasn't aired on US TV, while also incorporating footage from another unaired episode, "Sky-Byte Saves the Day".

I heard some of the original US airings were edited heavily, while some episodes did not air at al, can anybody confirm this?

yeah, but lessons of the past says "lessons of the past. written by tom wryner".this episode had none of that.thats what made me think it was something done by the network.it didnt have any original lines.

starfire check a site called "epguides" for details on airdates.

yeah, before i had the episodes to view on youtube i used to use lessons of the past in place of landfill.now when i watch it it gets put in it's proper place.some of those recap ones, they follow a little close to what they recap but they count as cannon so...they just need to be rearranged from their airdates to make the best sense.

That's correct, yes, all as a result of 9/11. Three episodes did not air at all - "Sky-Byte Saves the Day", because its plot resolved around a giant tower collapsing, "Attack from Outer Space" and "Landfill", which both featured scenes of heavy urban destruction. Some episodes - particularly "Secret of the Ruins" - were edited to downplay elements like this, while the two episodes which aired prior to the disaster (yeah, RiD was only two eps in when it happened) were re-edited and re-dubbed for reruns to remove scenes of buildings being destroyed and references to explosions and terrorists. You can read the full details of everything that was cut on the first half-dozen or so episodes in their articles at TFWiki (click my sig). If TV-Nihon ever stop subbing Insect-Man Dress-Up Hour and get back to doing RiD, we might be able to put together some more.
