I'm sure they'd be able to make more money on the 3DS. The system is selling really well right now so I don't see why they can't capitalize on this opportunity.

Keep in mind that Game Freak has more than one development team. What some people forget is that Platinum, HeartGold, SoulSilver, Black, and White were all in different stages of development at the same time under three different teams. Chances are that a main series Pokemon game for the 3DS is well under way in secret just like how HG/SS/B/W all were before Platinum came out.

As for why Black and White 2 are on the DS: Despite how much of of a cash cow franchise Pokemon is, Game Freak isn't a massive company. When they have two or three sets of games in development at once, they have to prioritize. Which game would have a larger target audience: The game that's a direct sequel to a previous one or the game that's independent from previous ones (Gen VI)? B2/W2 is specifically meant for the people who previously played B/W, while Gen VI could be played by someone previously unfamiliar with the franchise in addition to being played by existing fans. Since B2/W2 has a much smaller target audience, it makes sense for it to have a smaller development team and budget than Gen VI. The best way to get over that limitation is by reusing the assets of B/W just like how Majora's Mask reused the assets of Ocarina of Time.

Oh, I'm SURE the Ruby/Sapphire reboots are going to be for DS, and they will be marvelous in the current engine design. Gen 6 is a definite for the 3DS, though. I mean, it's a safe move for Game Freak because 3DS players will still be able to enjoy (also C-Gear works really well on 3DS), but they probably haven't totally planned out how the 3DS could revolutionize Pokemon yet, so this buys them some time.

After hatching around 650 eggs using the Masuda Method, I finally got the shiny Tirtouga I've been trying to get!

Remind me, what's a Tirtouga useful for?

Still, congrats on the shiny. Always nice to have one to show off.

Dang, 650? That's a lot of breeding, though I take it that method is actually a "practical" way to get specific Shinies?

The rare times I find Shinies they are of Pokemon I already trained. A bit of a let down seeing a Shiny Swanna/Floatzel after beating the Gyms/E4 with a non-Shiny Swanna/Floatzel. Though I got lucky once and found a Shiny Whismur 5 minutes after catching a regular one for my team; no massive re-training then and I got to see all it's stages Shiny.

Not everything is for competitive battling you know, I wasn't planning on using it for anything in-particular. Sea Turtles are just one of my favorite animals and I wanted a shiny of it. But thanks.

Yeah, I was hoping it wouldn't take that long but from what most people I've seen say online, I think that's fairly average to be around 600-800 eggs. They don't make getting shinies easy. I think it's the most practical method in B/W to legitimately get a shiny, although the odds are still only 1 in 1366.

    Blast from the past question,

are we allowed to talk/ask about codebreaker/action replay coeds for the older GameBoy era games?

I'd like to obtain the event items(ticket) for my GBA games(FireRed/LeafGreen) with Action Replay. Gotta catch 'em all somehow!

I have teleport codes to get to the islands. The actual ticket codes were a bit of a pain to use. I think I only ever got them to work once but there's another code you need to use them.

    For red and green
    Navel rock:
    6AADAC54
    A0A4B6C7

    Birth Island:
    554D9257
    D0472EF8

    Emerald
    Navel rock:
    842CB8A9
    7F8B0149

    Birth Island:
    4A99A22B
    58284D2D

    Faraway Island:
    8DEB234A
    4C8DC5EC

Just walk through any door and you'll be there.

Yeah, but doesn't that method mess up the legendaries names or something?

I want to get lugia, ho-oh, deoxys, etc as legitimately as possible, hence my desire to use an action replay device to get the tickets and use the tickets to go get those Pokemon the proper way as if I had gotten them at an actual event years ago.

I've seen one (and try to use myself) with Curse on a Sand team once. Likely plenty of things that can do it better, but seemed effective enough.

Or Gen 5's Bibarel, makes a nice little HM slave.

Does anyone still play the gameboy advance games? I've got all 3 DS game and I can go to any region except Hoenn. With my action replay, I can get any legendary Pokemon I want at any level I desire.

Here's what I found to get and use the tickets. I think (M) is the master code so you might not need it:

You Need An Action Replay Version 3 To Perform This Cheat To Get Deoxys.

    (M)
    72BC6DFB E9CA5465
    A47FB2DC 1AF3CA86

DMA ENABLIER(Must Be On All Time)
    8D671FD9 6F6BEFF2
    78DA95DF 44018CB4

You need to be at Virmilion & have gone to at least one of the sevi islands then you can put in the codes. Put code in a New Game Slot.

    MYSTICTICKET (8th Island - Lugia-Ho-Oh)
    0E12F25C BC489609
    141BB87C 83D7018F
    7A063220 5D82DF58
    2782EFCA 4EED1397
After entering the (M) and DNA ENABLIER codes, enter the MYSTICTICKET with those only. Do not enter the AURORATICKET yet. Now start the game and go to the PokeMart. You should see MYSTICTICKET for sale when you click buy. Buy one and save and turn off. Now disable the MYSTICTICKET and enter the AURORATIKET.

    AURORATICKET (9th Island - Deoxys)
    0E12F25C BC489609
    141BB87C 83D7018F
    7A063220 5D82DF58
    641B9F5D 3A0D0482
You should see AURORATICKET for sale when you click buy at the PokeMart. Buy one and save and turn off.

Now Disable The AURORATICKET and Leave On The DMA ENABLIER AND (M).

Now enter Birth Island/Navle Rock Enablier.

    Birth Island/Navel Rock Enabler
    07CF2578 E43B4EBF
Now you should start the game with the (M), DMA ENABLIER and Birth Island/Navle Island Enablier.
Now go to the Varmilian Port and Tak to the Sailor. He should sa that's a rare ticket and Birth Island and Navle Rock should appear. Now your free to capture Deoxys, Ho-Oh, and Lugia.

I found my Pokemon Platinum game last week. I love having teachers that let you play Pokemon in the middle of class. :)

When did i mention competitive battling? If i was talking about competitive stuff, i could've just googled for Tirtouga. What i meant was, if it took over 600 eggs, surely there must have been a better reason that just "had nothing better to do". Although i do agree Tirtouga is a cool design, and one of the better looking pokemon from Gen V (Carracosta is cool too).

Has a date been said for when Genesect will be available for download, either through wifi or an event? I haven't been keeping up with news for a while, and was interested in knowing.
