Swindle's leading? A bit of a shock, but ok...sure?

My vote's for the greatest shark around. I wouldn't mind seeing Wheeljack, Rodimus, or Arced get the vote. I'd really like to see this year's nominee NOT to be a BW character. We've already got 2 BW TFs in already.

 

Well, the baseball HOF honors real people who made real accomplishments (even if it's only baseball ), so your comparison would be more apt if I were saying you couldn't put Simon Furman into the TF HOF because Budiansky is already in there and they both wrote comics. You're right. That would be totally ludicrous.

But seeing as the TF Character HOF is for fictional creations throughout the brand's 3 decades, I think it's perfectly acceptable to treat the criteria differently and pass over yet another villain in favor of another character that would better illustrate the scope of the brand.

To each his own... just because my opinion is different doesn't make it any less valid.

how is Swindle in 1st place? I'm starting to get confused about the TF: HoF. Dinobot and Waspinator and now maybe Swindle? I feel like it's just becoming some kind of hipster "let's vote for the joke" thing. Maybe since I was a G1 guy and didn't much care for the Beast Wars continuity when it was coming out I'm just out of touch... it has to be a possibility. Anyways, Prowl, Wheeljack or Hot Rod (Rodimus) should be leading the way at this point in my opinion. I voted Prowl, one of the more intriguing transformers through all continuities.

How is Swindle a joke? The reason i voted for Swindle is because he's a greedy guy who manages to survive through his intellect and strength of personality

i'm voting for Minerva, who serves as a reminder in the transformers community, and history, of just how far we have come.

being the first mass release female transformer, it also serves as a reminder of when females were just repaints of toys that started out life as males. *or would later double as*

and yet we didn't have our first female american toy, until beast wars. *as far as i am aware of* yet airrazor and blackarachnia both have that one thing in common.

blackarachnia's toy started out AS a male toy. she was nothing more then an existing toy, painted to be male.

and unless i am mistaking, Airrazor was Male in the japanese version.

that means it wasn't until beast wars transmetals Airrazor, and transmetals 2, blackarachnia that we got our first true female toys.

Yet still female toys are not treated nearly as well as the males.

look at the Arcee, Chromia, and Elita One, from ROTF, all effort was put into making that "combined" mode that never happened.

they gave us that, even after they gave us energon arcee, and cybertron thunderblast, two transformers clearly designed to be female, and both work very well.

with PRIME, we have not one, but 2 arcee deluxe molds. and Animated we had Blackarachnia, and Arcee.

We have come a long way from the days of female toys just being repaints of males.

Hell, Bumblebee was repainted once or twice as female. the toy doesn't even remotely look female  

though i do give hasbro credit for originality with Strika, who i think was only made female due to typos on the back of her card, but that's ok  

so going based on the toys alone, she, Minerva is the one i want for the hall of fame.

 

Swindle is one of the few G1 Cons that had a shred of personality. Make mine Swindle!

However I still think Devastator deserves to be in there before 2nd stringers like Wheeljack & Prowl.

 

I grew up w/ G1, but I totally agree w/ Dinobot & Waspinator in the HOF. They are two great characters and were a good use of the fan vote to get recognition for a series that isn't really that high on Hasbro's radar while still loved by numerous passionate fans, this old-school G1-Kid included.

Swindle, as much as I truly love the character, is just Erector2012.

 

Kinda shocking to see Arcee in fourth.

 

He's not, but given how people are using the Swindle Vote as a diss at the very organization that would in turn HOST the event, it kinda cheapens his (well deserved) nomination and like someone said turns him into Erector 2012. My Vote is For Rattrap. Lets keep the Scott Wave going for a third year (I think we can leave Silverbolt off next year and THEN move onto Swindle or another well deserving canidate!)
