If anything, Spielberg is a director with a much better track record than Bay. It's impossible to really know what aspects of the films Spielberg was responsible for, but comparing them to Bay's previous works, the parts that stick out for me as different from Bay's style (which, unfortunately for Bay, are often the parts that I like) are what I would assume would be due to the influence of Spielberg. I thought the idea of making the first film about "A Boy and his Car" was one of the core things that made it a much stronger film than either two sequels, for example.

Man.... what's going on in this thread?! I think this is the fastest any thread has got off topic and into a posting-war. This is not ending well AT ALL. And for the record, I think Spielberg was excellent help in the TF movies.

The fact that spielberg was mentioned in the trailers etc and advertising as a producer means he clearly had some imput and they wanted the audience to know it. They probably figured it would be good marketing since alot of people seem to like spielbergs movies. Whether his imput was good or bad for the trilogy well never know. perhaps it was his fault ROTF sucked so bad and not bays or the writer strike.

Keep in mind that Speilberg was also intent on bringing an "80s-style sense of wonderment" to the movies, and that brought us a LOT of stylistic changes for the better, namely the famous protoform-arrival scene

I think Speilbrg should have just had Bay used to be his action consultant and nothing more.

I like Speilberg and a lot of his projects like E.T, Jurrassic Park, Indiana Jones and even TinTin.

I don't dislike Bay, but the parts of the first movie that I liked the best are the ideas I believe were originally attributed to Spielberg. Without Spielburg, the first Transformers movie may have been Armageddon of the Transfomers! and had even weaker plot, lamer dialog, pointless CGI (think kitchen bots), and on and on. It wouldn't have been worth a sequel and may not have had a good enough box office return to justify one.

Regarding Fox's comment, she was a nobody, started reading too much into her importance via press clippings and twitter posts, and got a smackdown when she became disrespectful to the extreme. No surprise there.

I agree. Just for the record I DO NOT hate the films. I'm just stating that some fan complaints could be attributed toward Spielberg, not always Bay.

Well, Bay's name is more prominently featured with the names than Spielberg, so guess who they're gonna blame first? You're trying to talk reason into a fandom's more poorly-tempered section, it's a lost cause before you even begin because people aren't going to listen.

While Spielberg can suggest things as a producer it's still up to the director to execute those ideas.

I kind of wonder though if so much wasn't made of Spielberg's connection to the films so people would think of all the classic films that Spielberg has directed instead of people thinking about the films Micheal Bay has directed like Pearl Harbor.
