Erector... that would be the funniest thing that ever happend and could probably happen again. The hype here in the Netherlands, when that was mentioned, was huge.
I would choose then the following.

Autobot - Seaspray (Since this character has received a brand new mold in 2011.
Decepticon - Starscream (Mostly for his role in TF Prime and the mold from that series)

This is worse than Erector, he was at least a fun character. Swindle I can understand but this Minerva business is ridiculous.

So without further ado, my selection for this year's fan-choice inductee, which should be of no surprise to many, is:

MINERVA

from Transformers: Super-god Masterforce

Minerva is a character defined by the firsts she brought to the franchise. Super-god Masterforce was a dramatically new direction for the Transformers franchise, borrowing heavily from the Sentai genre and introducing a lot of the stranger gimmicks from the later part of G1. It also was dramatically different, in that while transforming and transformers still played a major part in the show, the core of the cast were HUMANS for the first time, among them Minerva. As a member of the Headmaster Juniors, Minerva stepped out of line from the human females of the past in Transformers, and got involved in the action. As such, her toy (seen above) represents the FIRST FEMALE TRANSFORMER FIGURE to receive a mass release. And as previous headmasters had been Nebulons and Cybertronians with Transtector bodies, this figure (along with her Headmaster Junior compatriots) represent the FIRST HUMAN FIGURES released in the main Transformers line.

Minerva's character was strong, brave and smart, while still being feminine, and brought a unique touch to a team filled with more hot-blooded characters like Shuta and Ginrai. Along with acting as a medic and rescue specialist, Minerva fought to defend herself and the people she cared for, overcoming initial apprehensions about her powers to become a confident member of the Cybertron forces on earth. While she needed rescuing and help from time to time from her teammates, Minerva was no damsel in distress, saving the day for her comrades just as often. Minerva drew no boundaries in who she helped, be they human, animal, Cybertronian, or even Destron. Time and time again, Minerva reached out to the Destron Headmaster Cancer, despite the feelings of her teammates, eventually bringing him over to the Autobot side and to redemption, a feat seen only a handful of times in Transformers history. Minerva helped to embody one of the central themes of Masterforce, that "You are a Transformer", in both a literal and a metaphoric sense. She showed the audience that being a hero wasn't about having giant robot powers or laser weapons, it was attainable even for human beings, and was more about seeing the good in others, facing our problems and overcoming them, and becoming something greater than we were the day before.

Minerva is a character that's never truly been forgotten, especially in Japan, even if she may not be particularly well known in North America. She was included in the Super Figure Collection line of PVC figures, later adapted as the Heroes of Cybertron line in North America (though she was one of many figures left out of the HoC line), and also received a homage redeco on the Cybertron Thunderblast mold as a DVD exclusive. More recently, Minerva was the subject of an Animated update at last years Botcon Custimization Class, using the Animated Arcee mold as a base. Sadly, this means Minerva's toys are all Japanese exclusives or otherwise extremely difficult to obtain. Minerva has also been the subject of a 3rd party model in the Guttu Kurru line, slated for release soon in her Transtector suit.

Acknowledgement for Minerva would be a day well due not only for her character, but for Masterforce as well. Only very recently released in North America, Masterforce remains a somewhat obscure series, but one that dared to push the envelope of what Transformers could be. In a time when Transformers was starting to lose steam and wind down in North America, and when there was no longer any new episodes on television, Masterforce carried the torch in Japan, bringing new stories to new fans, and at the same time bringing life to many of the amazing figures from that period that otherwise would have only known a few minor comic and commercial appearances. Masterforce remains to this day a completely unique take on the concept of Transformers, and a part of it's history well worth investigating.

It also represents a nod to the Headmasters, and to a lesser extent, all the other gimmicks from that time. For all their derision, the Headmasters were brilliant in terms of toy design. Small, self-contained robots that interacted with the overall figure in both modes, and who could alter the figure's "statistics" depending on which head was chosen, adding even further play value once other headmasters were used. This element of collectability and gestalt play was one unseen to a large degree since the advent of the combiners. Headmasters were a gamble for the brand, and they may not have paid off as well as hoped, but they're still damned interesting and worth acknowledging.

So please, join me in supporting Minerva for the Hall of Fame in 2012. Help show the world there's more to the franchise and it's fandom than G1 and Beast Wars, that humans, male AND female, can help kick AND save Decepticon ass, and that there's way more to the history of Transformers than meets the eye!

Seriously, Minerva's got serious fiction behind her. Erector was nobody before that campaign.

No bad mouthing of Mr E here please. Erector is a hardworking no nonsense constriction engineer, not every bot has to run into the spotlight to validate themselves.

The thing about a character popular like Wheeljack or Rodimus Prime is, they are big enough of characters that i can see them being inducted into the HOF internally by Hasbro like Shockwave Grimlock and Jazz are this year. Why would we go campaigning for a popular character when we could campaign for a character who will never get internally inducted like Swindle, Minerva, or hell, even Tarantulas.

because minerva and tarantulas reeeeaaaalllllyy havent contributed all that much to the transformers mythos, if you think about it. Yes she was the first widely marketed female character and all that, but as i posted before i hadnt heard of her b4 today, so she cant really be that widely marketed. but hey, at least some of you can make your case
hall-of-famers should have more significance, and i know waspinator and dinobot were kind of obscure choices, but the dinobot concept had been around since G1, and waspinator was fairly important to his franchise too.
That said, im still not siding for swindle or minerva, but i wont mind if they win though cuz you've made your case and it makes sense
