I really hope they are putting Jack in a space suit when he goes to Cybertron because of concern about contamination or something.

I really don't want Cybertron to be a planet devoid of oxygen. It makes it too inhospitable if it is.

But... I expect I'm going to be disappointed in 6 days.

Why does Cybertron need to have oxygen? Outside of Animated I can't recall a single continuity where it did.

Energon and Cybertron both had it with oxygen I believe. Armada, I can't recall, but I think no.

I also think G1 had it, but again, not sure.

    G1 had it.

A lack of oxygen basically makes it unusable for the human characters if it doesn't have an atmosphere. And if it is unusable for humans then it's a location that won't be used often because a big chunk of the main cast can't go.

Why in the Universe does it need oxygen?
I mean, in a technical way.

    It would be realistic.

It doesn't need an atmosphere at all. It doesn't need 1 G of gravity either. It could be a huge planet with 20 G's, not atmosphere, and bombarded by radiation from the star.

But it's a fictional planet in a tv show. It has what ever the creators say it has. And if it's a place a large part of the cast cannot easily visit, then it's a place that won't be visited often.

Another problems would be nutrition: is it possible to find edible food and potable water on Cybertron?

I'd have thought that requiring a full-sized Space Bridge to get there would have been reason enough.

Ummm... there a pictures of him in a spacesuit so there's probably no oxygen on Cybertron. Or the temperature in general is not comfortable for humans.

And I doubt that they will be on Cybertron long enough for Jack to require food, but having some form of hydration in the suit would be helpful. Also eating a big meal before departing would be recommended.

But if he has to go to the bathroom, he's fucked.

I don't know for sure if Cybertron always has Nitrogen/Oxygen or if it only produces it when it's in a orbit of a star.

It could be used to cool it down and stop the surface getting super heated by direct sunlight. You'd hardly want half of it frozen solid and half so hot it melts your tires. and a transition area where the "weather is crazy" so it needs some sort of atmosphere and a modest pressure of it to keep liquids in place (in the swamps) and keep it cool - also many weapons wouldn't work without oxygen like Slag's flame thrower or any gass weapons and flight would be a bit more like space travel with no envelope of air to fly inside of quick turns would be a bit crazy close to the ground with no air for the control surfaces to bite into every turn and movement would require a lot of fuel to cancel the prior motion made. and Transformers don't usually handle like Babylon 5's Star Furries

Since Cybertron was not perhaps always 100% Mechanical Primus may keep it Oxygenated as a reminder of it's past state as well as the logical reasons of cooling, maintaining liquids and use of certain technology.

Fire doesn't burn without oxygen, and I'm not sure but haven't we seen Flashbacks with thing burning in the background. The Space suit is probably standard procedure, plus Jacks Mom is involved.

The planet may have oxygen, but it might also have high levels of other gasses that are toxic/fatal to humans, the level of 'air' pressure might be too low/high for a human body to tolerate, various wavelength radiations from the sun (if there is one) and so on. Every planet is different and unique with its make up.

Even in our own solar system there are planets so volatile no human could EVER reach the surface, in some cases even robots can't reach the surface with even our currently most advanced forms of protection.

Lots of reasons Jack would need a space suit to stay alive.

Holy shit I can't believe we're talking about this.

What next? A thread titled "Why do the human cast always wear the same clothes?" or "Why was there no pumice near the dark energon volcano"?

    Holy shit.

It changes nothing in potential of humans in the planet, because you see, with Jack they just proved they CAN send the kids there with suits. If they want to, they will go to Cybertron, and they don't need oxygen to be there for that.

In the G1 cartoon Cybertron had oxygen. The Quints were part organic, so it made sense.
