Really like the new updated, Cybertronian designs. Don't get the Gundam criticism though, been a fan of Gundam for a number of years and I've never seen one that resembles these designs at all, look up Gundam Exia or any other Gundam and say it looks like these designs. Even if they do looked similar to Gundam aesthetic why is that a bad thing?
While I like the actual artwork in terms of a bit of good drawing, I'm just not fond of this style of design for Transformers.
E. J. Sue's original IDW designs were very Gundam-inspired, but they still looked really good and were immediately recognizable as which characters they were. I don't think the critisism is they look liek Gundams, rather they look too much like Gundams and not TFs.
They're no longer on Earth, so they're no longer going to use Earth modes. Hence, they needed to be different. From that perspective and mindset, these look cool to me. Whether you like it or not, the Bay movies have now been around for quite a while, and will have an influence on the way Transformers look. I grew up in the days of G1, but today's audience doesn't see these characters as boxy G1 characters anymore. They are called Transformers.... they're supposed to, ya know, change...
I don't think anybody is disputing that, and I at least have no problem with designs drawing influence from the movies. I have a problem with terrible art and lackluster designs. Simple as that.
screw FOC (other than shockwave I need that shockwave), give me a line based on these please. Actually just give me both I do agree the feet are a bit big, not getting the rest of the hate though. I see nothing on these that resemble gundam designs.
Can you point to a definitive source that says what a Transformer is SUPPOSED to look like? I mean, absent the cartoon, would you honestly think that G1 Shockwave was supposed to be from the same series as G1 Megatron?
Ultra Magnus' alt mode....... this thing Hasbro......................................... TOY - NOW!!!!!
I like Alex Miline. He can handle detail but his art is just generic so these designs don't do it for me.
