The best thing i can see from this is that if its a new trilogy, this gives them a better chance to think it through and actualy get the plots straight without all the plot holes.
There's no explanation really. I mean, I understand why a lot feel that way, but it's a random sequence of events that ultimately resulted in demise of Animated. Truth be told, if it wasn't for the movie part of the franchise to begin with, Animated would not have been what it was at all.
If they make a new trilogy, I hope it would be one unified story. The first three are stand alone movies (unified only in tf fans minds). A part of what made the original stars wars trilogy so memorable to all kinds of fans was the one story that unified them, and like the rebels in Empire strikes back it would be interesting to see the autobots lose in a movie. TF Prime had the autobots lose in the season finale and we've all been eagerly anticipating season 2
I have mixed felings about the prospect of any future TF film involving Michael Bay. I think that he did a decent job with the first film, but the last two seemed a bit rushed. I also do not approve of his perspective of the franchise, which is one reason why the films need a new Director, with new ideas, and a fresh perspective. If the fourth film is indeed going to be a type of reboot, I feel that Mr. Bay will in all likely hood maintain the current appearances of the characters to ensure a smooth transition for fans, but will no doubt take the story arc in a much different direction than before. My main concern or frustration at this point would be the witwicky dilemma, and how these films really need to lose sam and all his baggage. We need a new human protagonist whom the story doesn't revolve around, but rather uses to balance the story as seen and felt from the prospective of the Autobots.
I would like to see them sort of plan out a story arc that fleshes out over 3 movies, instead of like the first 3 that had an episodic feel with no carry over except for Sam's personal life. I know that won't happen with Bay, but it'd be nice. About the only thing they'll change is the human(s) who they'll be following over the course of the movies. The first trilogy should have used the Cybertronian artifacts to connect to one another in some way, kind of like a puzzle, and have those pieces wind up at something big. Also, Bay should have kept the sides a little more even with the Decepticons winning more often and not getting slaughtered en masse. To not have Starscream and Megatron's relationship not fleshed out more was a big miss, but I guess he couldn't cover every side or it'd end up at like a 3 hour movie every time out.
GI Joe Renegades, a brand owned by Hasbro and shown on the Hub. Canceled after one season because Hasbro said they wanted to focus on the next live action GI Joe movie. No way to blame Cartoon Network on that one since it's Hasbro that killed a show on their own network.
^Technically, GI Joe Renegades wasn't cancelled, it was put on hiatus. But your right, Hasbro did it so they could focus on GI Joe Resolution, which given by how good that movie is looking, I think it's paid off.
well im gald to hear they are making a new transformers movie. i jus hope it aint a reboot. i would like to see them bring galvatron to the screen as he was the second leader of the decepticons. jus please no reboot
And yet in the very same statement, they also indicated it wouldn't be a reboot. They were throwing around the words "reboot" and reimagining" without any concern for what they actually mean.
You've obviously forgotten that it was more due to behind the scenes conflict of interest between CN and Hasbro.
I'm pretty pissed but in a way where i'm just sort of burnt out and don't care much to react anymore. We're going to get the same look, same TF designs, same characters, same fake orange tans, same racist jokes (i'm not exclusively referring to the twins either) same shit actors, same good actors in shit roles, same sun sets every five seconds, same shitty music, etc. I just want a good reboot man. The "turn your brain off" crowd already got their trilogy. Where's movie for the rest of us? At least I can save my money for TF Prime figures, unless they release one of those rare kick ass movie figures like Optimus, sans flames. My dream of a retro TF movie set in the 80's will never happen.
Oh, yes, I forgot these movies aren't developed off of Hasbro properties and therefore aren't involved in the creative process. Silly me. I haven't forgotten that, but it's true that retailers forgoing Animated toys in favor of more Movie toys is one of the reasons why Animated died the death that it did.
Nevermind the fact that Animated was not selling well. Had it been, retailers would have found shelf space alongside Generations. And I'm extremely happy about TF4 and Bay & Co.'s return.
