I think they're counting on people not noticing or not knowing. That's why I always save my receipts though, I got a $26 Megatron from TRU the other day, but once I see a few at Target (as in, I won't grab the first one that pops up, but once he's a little more plentiful) I'll buy it at Target and return it to TRU with the old receipt. Honestly, if it was only a dollar or two I might not bother, but for me its really the principal of the thing. TRU ALWAYS marks stuff up when they get it, then they drop prices when stuff trickles into other retailers. F'em.

 

That's the main reason I stopped shopping TRU till they got all those exclusives..

 

Not to defend TRU but, they are the last in a extinct chain of toys only stores. They have to compete when they know there's competition but if there isn't they try to mark it up a tad more for profit. I dont blame them for that, whatever they have to do to stay in business. I miss the days of Kiddie City Toys R Us Juvenile and Toy Wizard all standing within a mile stretch of 234 business. The days of specialty stores come and go but how much easier would it be to find new stuff if those stores still existed? Sorry off topic but, reminiscing with fellow Trans fans is something I enjoy. Thanks for putting up with it.

 

I'd hate to see TRU go as well but $26.99 for a voyager compared to $19.99 at Target is a little far fetched in terms of mark up.

I mean, for that mark up you can buy another deluxe and still have some cash left over at Target.

Yeah, I don't begrudge them a profit, but sometimes the markups are just nuts. They're really obnoxious on it with Lego... I understand marking a $50 set up by $5, especially if its a theme other stores don't carry, but they have the $12 Batman set marked up to $20! Oi vey. Anywho.

 

If TRU stopped doing Buy 1 get one half off right as new lines launch they'd make more money off tf's..  

 

Check out their Hero Factory Witch Doctor, $38.99 meanwwhile everyone elese has it for $24.99. Insane.

I read a while back that TRU will intentionally have stuff marked up and guage whether people will. Buy them or not. Nuts.

Wonder if Prime wave 2 will hit by the 26th? Also itching to find out when the Weaponizers will be revealed.

 

Well one thing is when you mark it up you can have more crazy "sales" and not loose that much money..

At $15 bucks buy one get one half means you spend about $8.. Which is still more expensive than walmart..
Of course if you want to get 2 voyagers or leaders you tend to come out ahead in the deal.

 

I plan to since I get a discount anyways. We got in a casepack last night and I think it had said Voyagers on it still.

Forgot to mention that the weapons do light up by the way if it wasn't mentioned earlier on or not. Don't remember seeing anyone saying so.

 

They had Sky Shadow too.

They're in local Targets already (deluxes and voyagers) but at this point I'd imagine the back rooms have all been pilfered of the short-packed figs. They are also showing up at TRUs, but they tend to disappear quickly.

 

If you are near manassas, TRU manassas had a cliffjumper on the shelf at 11am.
He's been there for 3 days now

 

Just found both RID Optimus and Megatron along with Wheeljack, Cliffjumper, and Bumblebee in the Toys R Us in Danville. I'm a very happy person right now.

 

Unbelievable. Just unbelievable. Well, guess I'll do a run in the morning up here, then if I strike out, maybe I'll head down to Manassas. Are mornings usually the best bet?

 

I don't think it matters too much I was going in the afternoon, I hit up TRU this morning.
I'm off tomorrow I can hit it up when the store opens and put Cliffy somewhere a tad more hidden if you want
