Eh, Takara Rodimus and Hasbro Rodimus have their own separate sets of issues, though, so it might be wise to keep them separate.

No reason to merge the two. Same mold, but different deco and accessories. Pretty much every other repaint release in the franchise gets it's own topic.

I understand but what i meant is beside Opening Up the box & play with the toy, is there any way to identify from the outer box as per which one is Version 1, which one is version 2?

    ^^

I got ya, check the thread! There is a difference in production (UPC?) numbers underneath the box. I know someone pointed it out awhile ago....

My rodimus (Hasbro ) has a stress mark from the pin under the Hood/behind his left shoulder joint. I can't tell what the pin is connecting other than light orange to light orange and am wondering if this would become an issue. Unfortunately I can't get a good pic due to a glare in the packaging.

Alright, so I just got another V1 in the mail today and took some comparison pics of the two.

V1 is Hot Rod, V2 is Rodimus
    [IMG]

    SPRINGS
V1 has some springs popping out, V2 doesn't
    [IMG]

    Panels
    V2
    [IMG]
    V1
    [IMG]

Now maybe it is just me but I think there is a little difference in color on the legs. You can't really see it in my photos.... but I think V2 goes to a lighter shade of orange on top; whereas, the V1 is just the same color. Probably just me....

Again, elbow colors are different between V1 and V2
    [IMG]

Guns: I guess Takara modified the handguns because V2's gun fits perfectly into V1's hand, BUT V1's gun falls out of V2's (I fixed the gun problem with nail polish already:2c: )

AND.... my V1 will now be in vehicle mode for a long time
    [IMG]

Oh and before I forget to mention it. I forgot about this problem, the panels have a hard time plugging into his waist.

    My V2 plugs in perfectly:2c:

So... I hope this answers some questions. Now, what I see as acceptable, you may not. Is V1 worth 209? Nah.... not really but it's hard to say no to BBTS clearance price.

Please keep in mind, V1 is a "Fixer Upper" so to speak. If you don't mind putting nail polish on his weapon, popping open his feet to fix the springs, and being EXTREMELY CAREFUL with his panels, its a great value.

If you don't want to do all that, just buy V2.

it's probably just me, but i hate those mushroom pins they used on v2's leg panels, the ones on the tru one i have aren't fully molded, never mind a few of the other figures i have bought and replaced because of them

I got my MP-09B the other day. I don't have much time to do an kind of proper feedback, but here's the basics:

    PROS:
    * Appears to be the v2 mould, so...
-- The leg panels aren't permanently riveted like my MP-09
-- He can hold his guns :)
-- He holds together in robot mode (the backpack clips in properly)
-- He seems to hold vehicle mode better
-- He doesn't csrape the floor in car mode
    * The black looks awesome
-- I posted some pictures in the cool stuff thread
    -- http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...es-first-post-read-them-1876.html#post7000739

    CONS:
    * It still scrapes paint on the spoiler when putting it into truck mode. It's only really noticable if you get up close to it, but it's still a niggle. I'm tempted to get some sandpaper and open up that slot a little
    * As the leg panels aren't riveted, they can pop off during transformation. They pop back on easily enough, though

These are just my initial "not got time before Christmas" observations. If there's still no more detailed feedback here when I'm back from my holidays, I'll post something more myself :)

Since my time with MP Rodimus is now over, I thought I'd give my final thoughts on the chap.

PROS-- AWESOME mold, probably my favourite MP design. Really faithful to the animation, involved transformation with just enough twist and turns to keep me happy, great accessories.

CONS-- POOR quality plastics. First one- leg fell off. Second one- other leg fell off. Third and final one- arm fell off!

Needless to say, I'm glad I got to handle him and admire his beautiful hot rod alt mode, but I'm quite happy not owning him and saving the worry that he's about to fall apart.

WHich version is the Hasbro one? Then again, it probably doesn't matter because I want MP Rodimus Prime, not MP Hot Rod.

If your going to display it in bot mode you could pick either one, they both have the leg extension and face change gimmicks. You'll just have to choose which paint scheme you prefer, the Takara which more screen/toon accurate or the Hasbro with more of an homage to the original toy. On the other hand if you want the full MP Rodimus experience with trailer and all the Takara is your only option.

my first order for mp rodimus was just canceled by tru. all they had to say was, someone didn't update the site, your loss!

anyways i did some searching and on amazon they have the SDCC transformers universe Rodimus prime. it doesn't look any different from the tru exclusive but i wanted to make sure what (if any) differences there are between the TRU exclusive and this one.

There is no SDCC Universe Rodimus Prime.

TRU first sold the MP Rodimus figure at SDCC.

Can someone confirm if V2 can hold the Targetmaster that came with TRU MP Rodimus well? The grip on my Rodimus for the Targetmaster is absolute garbage.

Finally picked this guy up in a trade, it's a version 1 so I knew what to expect quality wise. No complaints, only I cant seem to get him to line up all the way in vehicle mode. Besides that, loving this guy.
