    Here's a quick photoshop, grey to darker gunmetal and purple to grey (or silver if you use your imagination)

    Surprisingly, I kind of agree. I've been a big supporter of Classics Megs since the beginning, and usually I like a figure more with time, but those colors are just so wrong. Not even because they're bright, in fact, it's sort of the opposite. They're so dull, and there's so many blank spots that could use some nice detailing or washing or something.

    I dont see a problem with the purple. It may not have been on the original Megatron, but it's a classic Decepticon color, and it's a dark color. The yellow and exorcist-puke-green and orange are the real buggers. I'm also still wondering just how posable these classics really are.

    However, Megs' gun mode will always win me over no matter what. Even though his robot mode might be getting weird on me, no matter how many times I see the gun mode, I love it (not cos of G1-obsession, but because it's just so kitschy)

    The colors are a little ridiculous but were probably put in place to distinguish it from a real gun as much as possible. This way when some ghetto 5 year old points it at a cop, because he idolizes gangstas, the cop won't drop him like Galvatron dropped Starscream in the '86 film.

    The only thing I am not pleased with is that MEGATRON HAS RED EYES NOT GREEN!!! Come on Hasbro get it together. :throw 
    What do you all think about him having green eyes?

    Makes sense. They wanted light piping on the eyes and were already using translucent green plastic, so they just used the same plastic for the eyes.
