I watched this video and they mention the family with video streaming and xbox. A couple of questions. Why would I need a faster router for something like my xbox if it is connected to my wireless g router hardwire? All of my wireless devices are not wireless n and dont have adapters for them so I guess I wouldnt see any speed increase in buying a wireless n router if I dont upgrade my computers that are wireless. Here is my setup: I have a linksys wrt54g and still works. I have 1 laptop, 1 netbook, 2 imacs, xbox, nintendo wii and finally, two brand new android phones that we use wifi calling since we dont get any signal in the house. The two phones I have noticed drop calls, but they should not since they are on wifi. OK, where to start. 1- I am assuming that your Modem and Wireless Router are connected. I know, sounds stupid to ask, but trust me, I have heard it all. So for that fact, if your XBOX is wired to the Wireless G router, it does nothing but fuction as a regular router. When you are wired the Wireless part goes away. So you are getting pretty darn good speeds. If I am not mistaken the wrt54g has 100mb, so that is what the xbox has as well. So you are fine to stick with that. 2- You can get Wireless N Dongles for cheap. So in theory, you can upgrade to wireless N and get the dongles that connect to your PCs/Macs/etc. 3- As the video states, what are you using this for? I actually could stream some h264 movies with my wireless G. A lot of people don't know how to properly setup a router, so they lose a lot of speed. You may want to read this article: It Takes A Neighborhood To Fix Bad Wireless - SmallNetBuilder It can tell you how to get the most of what you have. You would be surprised of the speeds you can get on Wireless G when setup properly. But if you really want to go wireless N. Go with Wireless N Dual Band. This way you can run Wireless G on the 2.4Ghz channel and Wireless N on the 5.0 channel. There is a feature that allows the router to switch between Wireless G and Wireless N, but that will ALWAYS slow down your wireless N speeds. That is why Dual Band is the way to go. In the end, Wireless N, in your situation won't do anything. However, if you go with Dongles for your Laptops then it will improve the speed at which you can download stuff, stream movies, or watch movies from YouTube and such places on that machine.

I have one additional PC that is the my main PC which is connected directly to the router and the others are the other people in the house, everybody can stream videos and other things just fine. I was just curious if Im missing out on anything or I should say is everybody else in the household missing out. You have answered those questions, so again, thank you. One last question, if I upgrade everything to wireless N, would there be a significant increase in speed considering the cost of purchasing a new router plus 4 dongles?
