Please. She got a standard form letter that Apple, like most big companies, probably sends everyone that tries to send in ideas.

It's to cover their ass. "Hey, Apple, you should make it so your iPod's can scroll lyrics on the screen." "Okay!" "OMG I'ma sue you for stealing my idea without paying me!"

The kid did a cute thing. Doing so got her name on a list and a form letter sent to her. Her mom needs to deal with it instead of freaking out.

    Oh please.

That's just stupid and pathetic. They make it sound like they threatened to sue, or even kill the girl for making a suggestion. All they sad is "we don't accept outside suggestions, so please don't send them." Wow. That's harsh.

    Moronic soccer mom.

Seems like they are over reacting to me. Did they really think Jobs was going to write her back himself? Or that with the hundreds of letters they must get every day they are going to take the time look for the ones from 3rd graders so they can be nice to them?

She was learning about how to write formal letters in class, now she learned about the form letters that come back.

"It kinda sounded like they were saying "We don't want your idea".
    Yup.
Hence the "please do not send us any more unsolicited ideas".
    D-U-H.
Are we learning yet? Stupid fucking parents.

I like the part at the end when anchor-man is talking about how Jobs is local and will probable see the report and feel like a big smelly jerk seemingly to forget he works at channel 5 the worst channel for news in the bay. KTVU new FTW!

isn't that what a mailroom does? separate letters?

and it sounds to me like apple has learned the good company and common sense policy of having a 'child' letter in their form letter lineup.

Actually no Apple shouldn't have to worry about such things... this entire story is BS and the girls mom was just aattention seeking little bitch.

i'm seeing, in fact, a letter from a legal department sent to a 9yr old girl. i don't care what the mom's intent is; that's poor business practice. i only work for a small financial institution, and we still have separate materials and letters that are sent out in response to children. again, it's common sense.

And I would imagine it's a lot easier to do that at a small company that gets a small company's worth of letters. Apple is a huge company, they probably get hundreds of letters like that every day.

Same thing happened to me when I was a kid and sent LEGO a letter. Got pretty much the exact same form letter. The only difference, my parents told me that's what I should expect instead of OMG THIS 5YR OLD IS SMARTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE IN THE COMPANY AND THEY SHOULD LISTEN TO THE LETTER BECAUSE YALL ARE ALL JUST MEANY JERKS.

This bitch wanted her face on the news. She got EXACTLY what she wanted.

Besides, it was a stupid idea in the first place.

She sounds like an over protected spoiled brat that “throw the letter up in the air and slammed the door” with over protective parents that facilitate her behavior.

Apple is a business not a pre-school and as Jux said they have to cover there ass. When I was a kid I sent a character idea to Marvel comics, the letter I got back was almost identical and on one in my family felt the need to flip out and call the press over it because there was nothing to flip out over. This girls parents are over reacting and channel 5 is giving them a voice because they get to portray Apple as a big cold hearted corporation that makes little girls cry plain and simple. There is no story here, Apple did nothing wrong.

What the hell does a 9 year old need with an iPod Nano anyway. That should've been the first red flag that she was a spoiled brat.

But in all seriousness, Apple did nothing wrong, this is standard practice of nearly ANY company. Sounds like they just got educated on corporate policies and didn't like it. (along with wanting attention like others keep saying)
