he actually has feet as they do stick out underneath the canopy, the reason why I went this way was becuase I didn't want him to be a parts former and with the legs I did have issues with his legs as it left a huge gap inside it with no detail or anything to fill it up. But with those cannisters there they really do fill it in and give him more detail especially since they also look like fuel tanks in alt mode.

Alpha you have given me a fantastic idea there and great advice, I think I may have to go with the hound head as it ill fit in place and will be easier to put a viser on, thanks.

As stated I gave reasons I didnt like it and what I felt could be done to it as well, you two have not done that and are making a scene now please unless you have constructive critisim to say dont say anything at all.

My point was that, at least in this picture, makes it look as though his lower legs are twice as thick as they were originally. It also looks very disproportionate.

this is something I did want to work on but as stated I did not want him to be a parts former, the feet on a side view show better then they do on a full frontal angle. I also mainly chose to keep the feet like that because of the tray that kup has in alt mode. I am trying to do some extra weaponry for him and keep him looking very g1 but for that one part it was the only thing I could do sadly.

I am still quite pleased with it as those hinges for Trailbreaker took quite some time to get into place and keep them there. The top at one point was rather to floppy or to stiff so when I took it apart and re did it I finally got it at a level I was happy with so it could fold open. Lol I was joking around thinking at one point changing him from Trailbreaker to a transforming TMNT van from the first series but kinda updated version because of the canopy folding like in half lol.

Try something. Take a picture of him from the side. Then compare that silhouette to any other figure you want. You have given him a set of shelves for knees. I would suggest trying to find a way to move that stuff.

only problem is that once those knees go back into place on his it does on kup in normal mode it has a huge gap and his knife no longer slides perfectly in place.

Good point... though the "sneak preview" alternate head for Kup seen in the instruction manual looks nothing like Trailbreaker. Gears and Orion Pax have been floated. While I'd love to see a new mold for Trailbreaker/Hoist, I'd also accept Hasbro going this way too.

I agree that the legs look thick and a bit unwieldy... though in this case it doesn't bother me so much since Trailbreaker has always felt that way to me... that is, sort of awkward, slow and even a bit "chubby". I can accept him having massive, sluggish legs to some degree. :)

Thanks smog, much appreciated on the kind words! I to felt the way you did as I always saw trailbreaker as the last resort autobot and one that was always on the front line like the KUP spot light. That comic gave me the inspiration for some of this kitbash as well.

I have been a fan of your work and for you to defend my work and also like it meands a lot and I thank you for it.

Once I have the 3 final components for the kit bash that being the head, engine mount and the cannon next to his head I will be then reworking on the canopy, getting rid of the pattern and redefining it so it looks like a car canopy. I will also be working on filling in the gaps and making it look more even on the legs. after that is paint and stickers which I will be getting from reprolabels.

Once again I would like to thank every one that has pushed me along with new ways to think about this kitbash as this is a character that doesn't get a lot of love and well it's just good to see how many trailbreaker fans have come out to cheer this one kitbash on.

I'm going to be honest in that I agree that the legs do look a bit thick and chunky, but it totally fits Trailbreaker's character and the alt mode you have for him looks fantastic.

Definitely looking forward to seeing this guy painted up and finished. :thumb

    Status update,
Have completed the cannon piece, Yesterday I was at my city's markets and found a knock off dinosaur set and well that is another story those bots but some of weapons were used for other bots and one of guns was perfect for trailbreakers laser arm cannon next to the head. So I have taken some photos so you can see them and also my next WIPS for those who can spot them out.

Okay guys, did some more work to trailbreaker for his engine mount that sits to the side of his head, tried to do it behind like on the show but it just doesn't work. I used a powercore combiner for the engine mount, can't remember the name but yeah it worked brilliantly. Well good and bad criticisim is welcomed please feel free to leave it and always put something down that you think that the bot can benefit from as this bot means a lot and who knows your little bit of information could help make him better!

just updated the front page so you can see the most recent progress compared to the first stage progress, thought it would give you a good comparision of the work that has been done here.

More updates on trailbreaker, have made the engine mount fit into the engine in alt mode looks preety decent I think, just have to make a more solid connector ports and smooth down the cut of sections, had to remove the spring mechanisim in side his body to do so but I feel this gives the alt mode more muscle to him.

I intend all parts in robot mode to fit into the alt mode in some way or other.

I like this. The Kup mold works good for TB. Can't wait to see more.

This is lookin good, and giving me ideas as well. I actually like the bulk on the legs, but the arms need to be evened out with them. So, with that in mind, I'd suggest adding some nice size guns to the "truck door" plates on his arms. Think like the new "weapons specialist" Ironhide by I-gear. I'd also try and make his left gun hand a little bigger. The suggestion of using the Uni. Hound head with an added visor would be great for a head as well! Nice job thus far!

Thanks guys, I have actually decided to get spoonman to build me the head, I have recently started going through spoon for all my heads as you may oh seen his ww2 superion and silverbolt heads, that is for my first gestalt and I am going all the way with that one.

With the arms funny enough that IS something I have planned for him for like a full frontal assault how ever as stated I dis like parts formers and need to find a place in teh alt mode for them.

Thanks for the advice and the kind words guys it means a lot and soon once I have everthing else sorted out I will be starting on the paint job of him.

You know, except for the welcome lack of the Forearm of Doom, I get a strong Wildride/X-Brawn vibe from this. Probably the color mixed with the large lower legs.

    Nice WIP!

Thanks, well there will be some extra fire power put on him soon the only thing is where to store them while in alt mode as I plan on using undertow's chain guns. Also making some ports to attach them as well is a problem as these are things I will need to work out. I did how ever have a longer hand laser but sadly that hand laser had to be removed due to the fact that it was getting caught while in transformation so it had to be removed and replaced with the new one.

The head I can't wait to get that delivered and put on him but once I can figure out how to beef up his arms I will be painting him.
