Looking good!! Still think the blue is a bit to bright, but it doesn't look bad. It's coming along AWESOME regardless. Great work man, great great work :thumb .

Looking fantastic so far. What kind of metal paint did you use for the skeleton?

Thanks man, your work here inspired me to work "seriously" on mine. hehe

I used first spray flat black (brazilian brand Chemicolor), then tamiya gun metal X10 and also tamiya flat aluminun xf-16.

Before that I did some details with cooper, titaniun silver, gold and some mixing colors. hehe

And a big dirty wash after everything was dry.

I know most of the inner frame will be hidden, but it was a lot of fun painting. ;D

Yesterday I did the feet with Flat Aluminun and and after that Mg Chrome Powder in some parts (gonna do some pictures tonight).

My biggest concern is about the red and blue parts. I´m still not satisfied with my tests. Looking at Ebay for some color options this moment. ;D

Best wishes and sorry about my rusty/poor english.

I did a ton of research into finding the proper Reds and Blues. Believe me, I tried the entire line of Tamiya blue! What you want to do is get Tamiya Italian Red for the red. Be mindful of what you use for a base under the Red, because it's brightness can change depending on what's under it. I used Tamiya Fine Gray Primer. Use white primer for brighter red. For blue, well, that gets tricky. There is no good blue by Tamiya for Optimus blue. Mica Blue is the closest, but it has metal flakes in it, which Optimus does not. What I did was mix Blue and Brilliant blue 50/50 to get the right color. Others have mentioned it looks a little bright in the pics, but in person it seems perfect to me.

Read my post at this link for further detail...

what I did for the red was mix testors gaurds red with a bit of international orange until I got it as close to the color of the decals, :) . If I can sell the one I've got, and get a second, I would do the same with the blue as well.

I'm glad that worked out for you, but in my experience, Testors, even Model Master lines, just plain suck. I ran out of Tamiya red, and was forced to use Model Master and I hated it. I tried to polish it after being painted, and it got duller not shinnier! For me, I'll always use Tamiya, but if Testors works for you, then by all means, keep using it.

I was actually going a little more for colors advice, not so much just for brands :thumb .

I have DMK-01 and 02 sitting in my room unopened because I want to custom paint them whilst they are still in their runners but I don't know the first thing about painting figures. Anyone know where I can find a tutorial for painting up DMK series models?

I mean do I have to mix the paint with water or any other solution? What type of brush do I need? How do I apply the paint to the model without making the paint too thick and how to make sure that the colour is even?

Any tip is greatly appreciated. BTW, great progress so far, PixelMagic!

i agree with the others about the blue, its too bright. The color on the cgi is a dark mix between blue and purple. I do like the effects you did on the weathering. I personally wouldve done minimal weathering on prime cuz i like him blingin but thats just me ;)

I went a little crazier on the reds:

A friend asked about the size of Prime. In the picture below we have a Gundam 1/60, Optimus Dual Model 1/35, a Gundam 1/100 and the brazilian green robocar. ;D

This thing is now 99% finished, and I elected to build a diorama base for it. Pictures are forthcoming, but I was up until 5am finishing him. I also broke one of the LAST two parts to go on him. They were small, so it's not a huge deal, and I can fix them.

Guys, be careful with this model, it is FRAGILE. If you put a piece in the wrong slot, you WONT get it back out without braking it. Pay CLOSE attention to the instructions.
