sg tracks = sg tracks for me. sg octopunch = octopunch with a red symbol that will get a purple one put right over it.
Bummed about the head... went from a definite purchase to a maybe. Will probably come down to deciding while in line based on the sample they put out
I think a lot of people really dont like having to repurpose toys. It doesn't bother me much, but I do understand it. You know its not what it really is. I do it with quite a few toys ehobby classic Rodimus became G2 Blaze very quickly. Dion became Zap, though that did get added silver so is more a custom. Oddly though I find these halfway repurposed figures more annoying. I know I keep saying it make the toy neutral. The fiction is the fiction, FP can choose whichever version they want but let us the fan choose what the toy is and not have to have people going "oh but thats not really what it is." So, if I get this it will be Octopunch and Bludgeon will be lined up with it, but it will bug me. As for Tracks All I see is Diaclone/Euro Tracks dont care much about Road Rage.
CHEESE & CRACKERS! thats sexy! And alos not in need of a remolded head. that standard is totally fine. MAN! you can save up for the Boxset....but the At con figures.... Those Junkions are gonna cost me SO MUCH! I'll say, when that Gigatron Pic first showed up I was pretty hard on the set for a couple hours....now, the more I see the more I love it. and I wish I could apologize to Past-Pete. Obviouslly we have some more reveals to go....but yeah so far I'd say this is the third best botcon Box so far, behind 2006 & 2011.
I still like em, though as everyone else I am obviously disappointed on no new diver helmet head. I am sure if this does end up being the final version that we will get some 3rd party love. Glad the arms and shoulder bits got the red they deserved.
Man, not trying to be a hater but this set sucks. When I think Octopunch I think tentacles and diving helmet. Why do we even need a SG Octopunch anyway? I really don't like this mold. Looks like a surfer dude wearing baggy shorts and sandals. And now they gave it a ducky shirt? Lol. Whatever. Kinda seems like FP was trying too hard this year. Sigh... Guess I will only be buying that Soundwave nobody wants. Lol.
So, he's SG then? Hmm... :/ Interest dropped slightly. I was hoping Spinister and him could be shelf-mates for Bludgeon and Thunderwing with the Tesco (UK)/Target (US) exclusive Space Case standing in for Needlenose. Mayhem Attack Squad: Assemble! Maybe even try to get Octopunch holding SC's trident... As soon as I saw the Ducks of Doom though, I thought they were a bit too 'Autobot-ish' of a decal for a big, bad 'Con like Octopunch! IF he really does end up being SG, then rubber duckie-decals would be quite a nice touch. I mean, just look at them, they're way more duck-like than some C'Thulu-ish-type image that I'd expect from an update like this! Either the first leaked pics were off in their colourings, or the eBay auction pics are, and if you notice, both the auctions doing the rounds at the moment are using exactly the same photos! Either way, both sets of colours work in their own right. The eBay pics are coloured fine for SG, the original leaks are perfect for 'straight' Decepticon colours. I HOPE this doesn't hint at SG Spinister.
While I may be passing on this set (if one of the locals is even able to hook me up), the thing that works for me with the head is that for me, the head doesn't scream seaspray anyway, so its not like the figure is just a recolored seaspray for me. I can see where they were going with this, and there were probably worse fits out there to "force" as figures. Sure I would have liked some goofy-ass diver's helmet, but I can't say that this looks terrible. Now if a 3d party makes some tenticles for this badboy I will definately be sold.
I don't mind it in that I understand the necessity of it, so it's not like I have the expectation of getting anything really "new". But where it does bother me is that they have to get permission from Hasbro in their character choices. Meaning, that their choices won't overlap with any plans Hasbro has in the works. So, for example, if you were hoping for a REAL Octopunch toy from Hasbro -- a new mold actually designed for the character -- you can completely forget about it for at least the next few years because it isn't happening. That's what this toy is telling you. Not that I was expecting a Hasbro Octopunch, but you get the idea.
I am really digging this one... best deco this toy has ever gotten, I like the confused shattered glass homage that stays true to the original colors.. somewhat. Also I am glad that he doesn't have a diving helmet for a head.. But other than him this is the only one I've liked so far from BC/SG 2012...
Man, This year's Botcon set is getting even lamer & lamer with every new reveal. They call this Octopunch? Gimme a f#ck'n break...
I dunno; Octopunch is in G1 colors. And the club knows that a lot of people aren't SG fans, but wants them to buy the sets. Doing Spinister up in G1 colors would maximize revenue. As a LOT of us would love a new Spinister toy from that mold.
I'm happy with the toy looking like it does, and I hope he has the personality of Ernie on Sasame Street! I was thinking that the Octopunch would be a SG figure since we have seen Octopunch in the Classicverse comics already, and he has a G1 body. He was in Cheap Shots and all that. Wouldn't make sense for him to change now. It's also funny that the seller of the auction was riflescopeshop, who i known is one of the many ebay names for ii-toy.com. They got in trouble for selling a lot of early Dark of the Moon toys on ebay before their official release date too. Will those guys ever learn?
Not if impatient idiots keep buying the crap from them. The auction is back up again and 8 people have bid it up to $50+ so far.
I'm just hazarding a guess here but if I were Pete, I would've popped into this thread to say "there's a better head for the final" (if that were true) by now. I know when I do something wrong, I don't exactly go out of my way to confirm it...
