related topic: my local toys r us is stocked to the brim with arcee's and starscreams (and of course plenty cliffs and B's) if anyone needs one ill get you one at cost.

Wow! for once the Hasbro figures are more color accurate!

 

Bulkhead, as nice as his shade of green is, would stick out like a shiny thumb amongst the rest of the Hasbro Autobots (if someone were inclined to display them as such). I think really, if you're fussy like me, you'd have to go with either ALL Hasbro or ALL Takara. Mixing and matching will look odd IMO.

 

I'm mildly confused. Are the japanese first editions the same ones we saw from the auto show?

The Cliffjumper at the auto show was very clearly metallic. It's possible the in package lighting on this one is just to bad to see, but it doesn't look metallic.

 

 

interesting differences reminds me of the days of cybertron when it was the case that most figures just had a few minor differences but the odd figure from taktom seemed to be on a whole other level (e.g noise maze/sideways)

 

The only ones that seem to have any significant differences are prime and bulky... I might have to get those two!

 

I totally agree! I thought the same thing and it looks just as bland as U.S. version.

 

I fought the same battle with Animated!!! just went ahead and went with U.S. and finely selected the Takara "versions" and or characters I couldnt do without.

 

I like that Bulkhead! Well, actually, I like both, but the darker green is just a bit cooler.

The only significant change here is Bulkhead. This is why i do not get all of the posts about how the takara look so much better.

 

Bulkhead looks significantly better... Prime's got a darker shade of blue it seems, and the fake windows are a darker gray as well... Other than that they look similar enough.

Its quite common that at the toy shows they do not bring the factory release of the figures but rather a hand painted version that looks better to help promote the product. Go back and look at stuff from the NY toy show and botcon that we have seen well before the release. You can easily see the difference in the hand painted ones and the mass retail ones. Not saying this is for sure the case with takara Cliffjumper but its likely.

 

Hasbro does that all the time (unfortunately).

Takara often actually paints their release figures. Takara doesn't usually show at NY toy show or Botcon. Can you think of examples where Takara has shown nicer product than what they release?

 

Bulkhead looks best, but I'm holding out to see what Takara possibly does with the main line version of the figures.

 

I'm considering getting the Takara Bulkhead for a reasonble price but I may get the Hasbro version instead.

 

Bulk looks lovely - I hope I can find some way to get one. If only I knew someone who likes queing who could get me a few Prime toys and the microns too ''Sigh''.

 

I cannot site any examples i am merely saying that early shots of Takara Cliffjumper may have been shiny and it was scrapped is all.
