Instead of bringing back Ironhide, why not introduce a new Autobot that has been a favorite in the the animated series of Transformers, say, Bulkhead? He has some (if not entirely) resemblance of Ironhide, minimize some issues with his attitude. I swear, TF4 may shed some added interest, especially among the younger viewers if a 4th installation of the movie is done. (no trolling please. Just delete this post if you have anything against this...)
Optimus: "Autobots! Transform and ROLL OUT!" Jarhide: "..." Optimus: "That's the spirit, Ironhide!" Ratchet: "He's dead, Jim"
Don't let Miko and Sari hear that! Sari has laser beams and a energon hammer while Miko is very skilled with an axe and they know how to use them well!
This, I mean, Ironhide was turned to rust. I'm sure that's as dead as an Autobot can get. Now if it was Optimus Prime, I'm sure we'd see him return no matter what.
As much as I'd like to see Ironhide in a fourth installment, I don't think that he should come back. I think they should choose a character to replace him like Kup, Bulkhead, or even Drift if done right.
I really think mortal finality needs to be a driving force in this franchise. There's no jeopardy for the audience when the characters can simply be rebooted back to life when they die. That's one of the things that really bugged me about ROTF -- miraculous resurrections. If a character dies, especially if it's simply a supporting character, it should remain dead.
There's always a way to bring characters back in stuff like this, if they want to bad enough. With good writing and enough creativity, pretty much anything is possible. This stuff is high fantasy/scif-fi. There isn't much you can't get away with if you have an imagination. Do I think it will happen? No. Not anymore than I think Bay and his team is capable of solid storytelling. As far as those saying death needs to be permanent - TFs is already filled with resurrections - movieverse included, and the movie series has also been filled with magical Mcguffins and the stretching of plausiblity. We basically had what amounted to robo-heaven to have a magically revive Sam moment, FFS. All I know is TF4 with no Ironhide leaves Silk rather uninterested. Especially if Bay comes back and we get more of the same like with ROTF and DOTM - without my favorite character to look forward to seeing....."meh" is all I can say.
Tell me, did the Jazz fans react with endless "why did they kill Jazz? Will they bring back Jazz? Megatron was a horrible character! Why? Because he killed Jazz! They shouldn't have killed Jazz." like the Ironhide fans are now? I am sick to death of hearing crap about Ironhide. At least he was an entertaining character whos death didn't make him look like a piece of shit. Think about how Soundwave fans feel. Are we making even nearly as much of a fuss as Ironhide fans are? Ironhide killed both Crowbar and Hatchet with only tiny assistance from Sideswipe just before he died. And How did he die? he got shot in the back which makes him look like he's too tough to face in a proper fight. Compare him to Megatron and Starscream. The only other character you hear people complain about the way they died. Megatron got pushed around by Sentinel until he attacked Sentinel from behind, showing no power because he was a sneak attack, then got killed by Optimus in a few seconds and didn't even manage to put up anything resembling a fight. Then there's Starscream. He did nothing but blow up or rip[ apart fragile and defenseless stuff until he got killed by Sam. Why are Ironhide fans not dropping the fact that Ironhide died?
Welcome to the fandom, where our full-time job is and we about everything in our spare time about random and sporadic things in the franchise.
Well not all Ironhide fans act that way.but still you're right, what's done's been done it's time to move on.
The only way I could see them bringing Ironhide back in the 4th movie is if it's in a flashback or if the whole movie is a prequel. I think the fan rage that would be generated by bringing back a character so obviously dead would be far greater than the upset people have for killing him off in the first place.
