So I was amazed at the Pretender customs that were put together by aprim.

I have a sketch and blueprint of everything that I need for this guy except one thing, the head. I don`t have the talent to make it myself so I`m hoping I can find an action figure that I can nab a head off of. Any help on that will be greatly appreciated!!!

On that note guess who? Answer below picture as dsn1014 has guessed right!

It is IDW Hunter O'Nion in his headmaster form

A gorgeous looking Hunter coming along there. What scale are you working at? Gundam kits are fun to build like this, love your scratch work.

    Wooo!

Sweet, are you going to build up his chest to match as well? Love Aprims work, got me cutting up a couple kits as well. What size of head are you looking for? The Corps figures that are out there might be the way to go. I think that's the size just below the 1/100 kit, about deluxe height? I'm trying to find a head to match for mine as well and it's a bit of a bear to find one that suits. I'll keep yours in mind. I've been checking the discount shops like TK Maxx and looking at what's on offer in the Supermarket. It'd be a shame to buy a whole figure just for the head. Hmm, are there GI Joe custom head casters? Maybe looking into something like that may be the way to go.

Definately! It is two steps down on my list. I will be modifying the waist joint area as the upper body and lower body are from two different Gundams first, then I will build up the chest to look like the picture a few posts up.

From images I've pulled from the comics and my calculations of his proportions. His head should be just more than 5/8 of an inch for a head with Hunter's wacky hair, or just lower than that for a head with his helmet.

First what are Corps figures? A 1/100 kit is just smaller than your average deluxe, maybe 4.5-5 inches.

The Corps are a 3 3/4in GI Joe alternative made by Lanard. They're the same size, but their heads are a bit bigger than Joes, might fit the body scale wise. The detail of the moulding is quite nice too. Here a link to one on Ebay that I found,

Lanard CORPS - Rip Gray Green Tan White Eyes | eBay

I'm not sure what their heads are like, I just know their sculpts are quite nice. Also have a look for Chap Mei toys as well as they are similar if a bit cheaper.

Thank you, it mean alot from someone as talented as you. I think my stryene and basic building skills are up to par for the project, but I may have to leave this unpainted until I can get my painting skills up to par.

Honestly, the best advise you can get is don't be scared to paint it and take your time. There are so many talented painters here. Try checking out TTT's spray paint tutorials, Encline's prepping for paint (on youtube) and you'll be fine. I personally never painted anything until I started customizing. BUt there is a way to learn and most of it I learned on here and other sites like Procusomizer Sector 70, youtube and asking artists I wanted to paint like.

Good luck, the custom is coming along very nicely.

I'll definately take a look at those tutorial. I've painted on canvas and other flat surfaces before, but never anything like toys and such.

OH wops, the gundam is 1/144 scale

Their store is going to be off line until after the holiday season, but Slayer design studio has a head sculpt that looks like street fighter Ken. I bet that would do quite nicely.
