Speculation people. The Raptor has been supposedly been terminated, and that saying has been around for the past 18 months. True end of production has yet to be seen, it depends on if Obama and his administration will be given another term. As far as the topic goes, the USAF will still have 176 Raptors at their disposal, even if the production is cut, so I don't see why Starscream still couldn't have an F-22 mode.

Without head they cant see, talk and such. also if the head was not imporant as the Spark is, then why the heck they died when they had their head blown up, destroyed, decapicated, shot down, etc etc

Megatron if revived have the most chances as his head was ripped off, and not completely destroyed as Starscream and Soundwave

The F-22 program was cut for funding issues... by President Obama. The cost of one unit is roughly $150 million and the entire program cost is (was) around $66.7 billion. Also, the plane is a complete maintenance nightmare at the moment (I'm in the Air Force) from what some friends that work on them have told me. That said, it is an aviation marvel and I wouldn't expect the US Gov to stop utilizing it for a very very long time. Besides, the F-15 has been in "official" military use since 1976... it's 2011 and we are still using them...
However, I would expect the TF movie franchise to use something else for the other seekers, like quite a few in this thread have speculated, probably the F-35.

No longer in production =/= no longer in active service. As long as the USAF fly F-22s, Starscream's can pass off his alt mode (tattoos aside).

I machine airplane/jet parts for a living and to me this is old news. We stop making parts for the F-22 like 3 years ago.

The F-22 news isn't really new, though. We (who pay attention to that sort of stuff) heard about this months ago, if not almost over an entire year ago. Seems that the F-35 is indeed the successor... and I was actually surprised not to see any used in DOTM. Aesthetically speaking, it looks near identical to the F-22 but just smaller. Obviously there's a lot more going on in terms of technology, though.

...F-14s haven't been used by the US since 2006. If they did decide to use a different jet for starscream, I'd hope that its either a F-15 or a F-35, but like others said, the end of production does not mean the end of service for the F-22.

Well, they could obviously throw in a homage to G1 and make him a F15 eagle again. That would be pretty cool to watch!

I could see that working. The decepticons get russia and america into a war, use the chaos as a chance to take over.
    They could always CG it

Did they really kill Ironhide and Starscream just because their vehicle modes weren't being manufactured anymore? For Ironhide, they could've easily just had him reformat into this baby...

Smoke stacks or not, I could see this thing being Ironhide.

The Raptor project was well on its way to the production being cancelled by the time ROTF filming began, yet Starscream was still a Raptor... not to mention that a squadron of F-16's does a bomb run at the end of ROTF and trust me, they were definitely out of production at that point. Yet, the Air Force still allowed them to be used. Your logic is off. If you want the details of that squadron of F-16's , they were from the New Mexico Air National Guard unit...
People in this thread have quite a few misconceptions about the Air Force and how it operates.

That makes no sense. Why the heck would they NOT allow the F-22 to be in the movies if they've stopped production? They've already got at least one F-22 in a museum already for public viewing that I know of, probably more.

Were those F16's even from the military? I could have sworn they were the Thunderbird jets in use.

The whole thing with Starscream and his Seekers was that he'd chosen the most top-of-the-line fighter of the time, in the G1 era it was the F-15.

Everyone else went through the library of other jets like the Aerialbots and Powerglide.

Uh, what does this have to do with the possibility of the F-22 not being able to be used for a possible 4th movie?
