I guess Hasbro just hates the Dinobots or something. They haven't been in any of the movies, and they tried to keep them out of the Aligned Continuity (Hurray for everyone involved with Fall of Cybertron for getting them into the game!). There is no excuse for the Dinobots not to be in the movie. Who wouldn't love to see Grimlock massacre Decepticon protoforms on the big screen?

Hasbro doesn't hate the dinobots as much as they think they don't fit the mythos the Bay films are setting up.

Seriously, would you put the Stunticons in Beast Wars? I don't understand why the dinobots not being in the Bay films seems to be the cause celebre this week. There's plenty of great characters who haven't gotten their shot in the Bay films so far.

every time I see a new thread about the Dinobots I am just going to re-post this.

Have Grimlock scan a Bay version of this.

Can be fit easily enough into the story now that there are NASCAR Transformers.

... Laserbeak, Ravage and (arguably) Scorponok all have a beast mode.

However, they are generic enough (Ravage being a vaguely feline quadruped/spikes, Laserbeak being a bug-eyed vulture-y creepy guy) that they can be seen as Cybertronic lifeforms... something as specific as a dinosaur being on Cybertron might break the already stretched suspension of disbelief. Especially since making a Dinobot more generic makes all five of them sorta blur together (minus Swoop and MAYBE Grimlock, but Sludge, Snarl and Slag would seriously blur together if they had Bay-styled beast modes... honestly, they might want to go the way of the Dreads and have identical beast modes).

No, they have animalistic robot modes. Unless you're suggesting that Laserbeak's robot mode is really a photocopier and he transforms from that to a robot bird.

Note that all animal-esque TFs have been Decepticons and the cons in general are very beastial and savage looking in the Bay movies. While the Autobots are much more human like. Dinobots as Autobots wouldn't fit in.

Potato, potahto. We see the difference, do you really think that Bay and the vast majority of the audience does?

    And there's also TFs with a spider-like robot mode, a snake-like robot mode, a unicycle-like robot mode...

Do you think the audience thinks "hey, that one kind of looked like a cat, where are the dinosaurs?!"

No reason the Dinobots can't turn into Cybertronian beasts that look like dinosaurs, either. It's not that much bigger of a stretch then a bird/cat/scorpion. Especially if you only include Grimlock, he'd be very easy to turn into a more alien T-Rex.

I still want to know why, exactly, animalistic robot modes is more believable then robots that turn into animals. :inquisiti

I used to agree with this, but now that we are three movies in, with so much other stuff being included without any explanation (animal TFs, combiners, Pretenders, robots without legs, etc), it just feels odd to still have people say that the Dinobots would be 'unrealistic' or 'silly'. At this point, that argument doesn't really hold any weight any more, not when we have a combiner, animals, a Pretender, robots without lower bodies, a geriatric character, etc etc etc.

It will be considered a stupid idea until Bay does it. Then it will suddenly be perfectly acceptable.

Actually it's Bay who hates the Dinobots. I think Hasbro kept the Dinobots out of the aligned bible so writers can come up with their own origins for them (as opposed to the mandatory backstory of Optimus and Megatron as friends).

    Folks:

People have put forth some impressively logical arguments against Dinobots. However, the films contain very little logic, and a great deal of robots breaking things, and tearing the bad guys to pieces. Dinobots are good at breaking things, and tearing the bad guys to pieces, so they're probably inevitable, eventually. :)

The only Baygitimate strike against them, perhaps, is that dinosaurs are in the public domain, and the Bayverse is all about the licensed products saving the world. :lol

I think it may be less than 1 atom thick at this point...:D

I'd be all for haveing the Dinobots in the films... if the filmmakers didn't f them up.

Hell, looking at a lot of Decepticons, we have the Insecticons already.

its not hasbro, its bay and the movie crew.

Bay hates them, while the crew thinks it doesnt make sense to have Dinosaurs as robots in the movies (bob and alex, have said the same thing on interviews for ROTF)
