WtF!? High Moon - WtF!? We have a game based on the same freaking gameplay - you have the models yet you're so lazy that we can't get movie skins? Really? It's bad enough that you didn't release DLC - worthwhile DLC that wasn't on the disk but we don't get to use characters that will work in the game?

Luxoflux are still kings of Transformers DLC to me.

But they might prove me wrong. MIGHT.

WFC/FOC =/= movie, which is probably why no movie skins. I doubt we'll even see WFC skins in the game, which is too bad, as they are better IMO.

I think you're on to something. I don't know a damn thing about game creation but wouldn't it be possible for them to just import the movie models from DOTM, to FOC? Good DLC idea if I do say so myself. But I bet more than half the FOC players would start bitching about how "WAAAH!!! WAAAAH!!! This isn't FOC anymore! WAAAAH!!!". I love that idea though and would gladly pay 800 or so points for the movie characters.

They wouldn't exactly be in sync with the G1 style feel of the game, so I wouldn't like to see that.

Just FYI, you are talking about the models not the skins. A model is the geometry you see. A skin is painted over the geometry.

Secondly, there are many factors that work against this idea. Don't assume for a single instance that laziness is ever the reason. People throw that word around and know nothing of how games are actually made.

For one, they are completely different artistic styles. If all other reasons I'll mention were workable it would still be a jarring shift to see those versions of the characters in game. And such a jarring shift is likely the reason this point won't happen. It's not a definite thing. A previous Transformers game has done it. But it is something that a lot of people would be apprehensive about.

Next, just because they have the models does not mean they can be dropped into FoC with no effort. They could be (and likely are) built at entirely different scales of CG model, thus would require time and money to make work. They probably use entirely different skeletons, thus would require a lot of time and money to reanimate (which is always one of the biggest costs of a game).

And the biggest reason is likely one of business. It is extremely likely that this idea would require a tremendous amount of effort to go through the various owners. They would have to get permission from Paramount, probably Bay, and anyone else associated with movie. This reason alone is likely the death knell for it. Never underestimate corporate red tape. Nothing is as easy as you believe it to be.

At the end of the day I put this concept in the very unlikely bin. It's not impossible but I would be quite surprised if it happened.

And again, don't attribute this to laziness. You just come off as an ignorant whiner.

My own personal opinion on this concept is disapproving. I hate the movie aesthetics and seeing them in FoC would make me groan every time I would see it. This opinion does not change the observations I listed above however.

Answer: having movie vehicle modes in a G1 inspired game set before they leave cybertron just doesn't make sense.

I should've been more specific with my post. DLC movie characters, for use in multiplayer only. For those of you who say it won't make sense, think about it. Multiplayer never makes sense. In any game. Ever. :p

Sorry dude but that won't make any sense in the game seeing how the aeshtics are different and the fact that they are in a different universe. So while it's a nice thought it's really a pointless idea.

It's happened before. G1 characters were added to RotF. The precedent exists.

Totally agreed. It may not be a big deal to many but I feel it would take a d00d out of the game a bit.

Oh trust me, I don't think that HMS are lazy per-say, I just don't know why we didn't get better DLC from them.

I don't really think FOC should have movie skins. It's an entirely different continuity, and High Moon was hired to make DOTM, but that doesn't give them the rights to use it in a different game that Bay never had anything to do with. I wouldn't mind seeing DOTM skins in this game, but I wouldn't mind the game without them at all.

That's good to hear, but as I pointed out there are a lot of reasons things don't happen the way we might like.

In the end it's all about time and resources versus gain. As passionate as we are for our fun times video games are still a business. :)

it seems like videos games are becoming more and more of a business these days what with subsricptions and DLC.

It's merely the thought that counts. I would like to hear that they had the creativity to make the skins or nmew models. How many people saw the costumes avaliable in Arkham City or Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions or Edge of Time? I know it may be a bit different but they were part of the fun in wanting to play.

I'm sure someone brought it up at some point. It does seem like it might be an easier DLC than creating brand new models. I'm just holding my breath for it. Plus I don't really want it, but that's moot.

But yes, video games are becoming a business because they cost a LOT of money to make and now require around 100 people. War for Cybertron probably cost around $20- $30 million dollars to make. If a game doesn't sell well, that is a HUGE amount of money to have lost. So with that in mind publisher decisions make more sense, even if they are frustrating.

I'd love to see some dimension hoppers in FoC as maybe unlockables? Animated, Movie, G1, etc.

However, there's a catch.... they have to be Cybertronian modes. There can be Movie dudes, just with Cybertronian alt-modes and such.
