Oh bugger. Don't get me wrong, I love the films, but i'd like them to focus on Prime and new ventures for the franchise, and also i'm getting tired of BAYSPLOSIONS

Breaking news! People want more money! Shocking...I know. Plus, secret formula? Really? Let's break this formula down: Add 1 hot chick, add sexy cars (Warning: may contain product placement), add CGI robots, sprinkle with childish crude humor and racial stereotypes, add some sunset scenes and military stock footage, blend(edit) well(or not), and season heavily with Michael Bay's EXPLOSIONS™, run the whole thing through the orange/blue filter and you have yourself a movie.

They didn't seem to go out of business (i'm assuming that's what you meant) when there weren't any live-action films....

Yup. It would be pretty ignorant to assume that Transformers were the only means to line Habsro's pockets.

I saw the first film even though I came in to it not liking a lot of what I saw, but I gave it a chance and thought it mediocre when it wasn't annoying. When I saw RotF on TV that only reconfirmed how I felt about Bay's films. I haven't seen DotM and have no intention of wasting my time on it. It will be the same with TF4 if he stays on as director.

It's Shia too. I cannot stand him and I don't know what Spielberg ever saw in him to let him near Indiana Jones 4. He's the other deal breaker for me. He is not leading man material, he's not even everyman material, and I don't find him the least bit charismatic or attractive. At least if that Jason Statham rumor had been true I'd have had some eye candy.

The only thing I've enjoyed from the movies were some of the designs (especially Josh Nizzi's for RotF which were an interesting departure from the norm) and some of the toys of off screen characters. If nothing else, the first and second films gave us nicely detailed figures with REAL licensed car modes (I actually started collecting 1/32 scale miniature stuff to interact with them) but I found that interest waning with the DotM line, too.

I hope I'm surprised, but I'm pretty sure it will be the same old same old from here on out. I hope Hasbro makes lots of money and produces more toys in other forms but I'll be avoiding TF4, any subsequent films and the toys if they stay with the formula. I can only hope that some time in the next decade the current formula for action films goes stale in the audience's mouth and forces someone to innovate. In the mean time, I'm happy to do my usual thing and pick and choose what I find interesting from TF's and I'm looking forward to what comes out of Fall of Cybertron and to more Classics-styled filler lines. If I'm thankful to Michael Bay for anything it's that his success has made the Transformers brand broad enough that I can find something that I like in it.

    TL;DR
I didn't like the first three films, I probably won't like the fourth if nothing changes. I'm happy the brand is bigger because of Bay and that's a good thing because I can usually find something that I like, i.e. HftD/Generations/RtS etc....

What I'd like to know is: when in his fantastic carrier did Spielberg lose the balance between love for cinema and love for money?

Can we get someone else as a director?

Now that I think of it, I really like that Balder's idea about Gore Verbinsky taking Bay's place

I watched the third film yesterday. I wished I hadn't.

Absolutely terrible film making on every conceivable level. How Hasbro have managed to sell toys based off of these monstrosities will be a mystery that lasts through the ages. Longer than these films will last. Heh.

I, for one, am happy they are continuing. And happy that Bay will carry on. The movies are there own canon which work, and even though it's not been positive to the "fans" as a whole, it's still made a shit load of money.

Battlefield Earth was shit and made fuck all and was a disaster.

Almost everyone on here pans these films yet they've never sunk at the box-office! Maybe it's the subject matter but maybe, just maybe, it's the best live action big bot movie series created?

Twilight is also a HUGE box-office success so I guess they are the best vampire movies ever made as well?

To a 14 year old girl, of course!

The TF movies are a spectacle. All this jazz about getting Nolan that some people keep harking about is farcical. Who in gods name can take a toy line as a serious piece of literature/tv/cinema is beyond me.

TF films are what they should be. Big, Loud and in your face. I don't want Ang Lee or Tom Ford touches, I don't want a deep and meaningful tear jerker. I want Cars, which transform into big robots and kick robot shit out of one another.

I'm glad Bay did these. I'm glad as it keeps your and my fingers busy defending our points. ;-)
