yeah mine starts saturday, a friend of mine is in the same boat.
I get why their doing it and it's cool people are still getting let in to try it, just sucks that they decided to use a 4 day weekend to do a staggered stress test when they could have just opened the floodgates if they were worried about what *going* to happen come mid december.

Well, they're staggering the release of the actual game too. Not that it'll be anywhere near the numbers this weekend. Also, they probably want to make sure it's stable at 25%, then they're upping it to 50% of users, on and on, only reason I can think of them staggering users like this.

I got into the beta tests today. Played for an hour then uninstalled. A game of this... quality... is just not worth a monthly subscription to me. Have fun everyone who's enjoying it though. :)

So, I've been playing for the majority of the evening. I started a Sith Inquisitor. I have a lot of mixed feelings, but overall I'm very much excited to start a perm character next month.

    Pros:
-Story: The story seems pretty good! While you may be going and killing boars or acolytes or whatever, there is a purpose of why given to you by an NPC. The quests seem to fit together nicely.
-Graphics: While it isn't a Deus Ex or Skyrim, it still looks pretty good. On my pc its absolutely seemless. I've played WoW for nearing seven years now and I can honestly say the cartoonish graphics do not matter to me at all. I kind of like them, to be honest.
    -Music: Oh God yes.
-Its nice to not be thrown into a Star Wars game with a lightsaber and a backstory. You start anew and have to earn everything through a decent plot (at least, so far).
-The characters are great. On the Sith side, there is a Lord Denning (can't remember his name) very early in the game that is eccetric and a little crazy. His apprentice also recognizes this and is plotting against him. This is one of the reasons the Fallout series appeals to me so much and I really hope this keeps up throughout the game.
-Penalty for death: it isn't that bad. You have to wait a few seconds to res, then you are stealth mode for a few seconds to get to a safe area from where you were killed

    Cons:
    -lack of achievements
-combat can be rather clunky. Right now, alt-tabbing is off and doesn't work correctly sometimes.

I'm sure I'll think of some more to add to my list as I play it, but I'm enjoying it fairly well right now.

I gotta say that I'm not very impressed with my Mercenary character, maybe I should have gone Powertech. I may switch back over to my Commando for the rest of the test since I just totally enjoyed playing him.

The commando was a lot of fun. I've played... 3 or 4 classes now, and the commando is by far my favorite, which surprised me. I only want to play one main character on launch, but commando is tempting me to switch sides...

So got into the Beta yesterday to see if my comp could handle the game. 5 hours straight no problems. Went out and pre ordered the game today. Yes it has some problems, but all games do at the start. It offers such a diffrent experience than WoW, but I dont know if its "The WoW killer". It will hurt WoW, but if the end game that is the game now any indication of what to expect, there will be alot of "Got to max lvl, end game was boring." I mean
as a jedi you fight Drath Malgus and its just one long boring drawn out fight. Just tank and spank heres your loot. I mean this guy is suppose to be THE GUY and he goes down like a regular mob. /sadface
Still as a Star Wars junkie, despite what Lucas has done to kill it, i did enjoy the game.

I'm lvl 22 on my Commando and it just keeps getting better. The only thing I dislike is that most of my offense is AoE's which sucks in flashpoints where your group is trying to crowd control.

Just curious but how did you find out in one day of testing how easy it was to kill him? The old MMO I played had a similar problem, the level cap was at 40 forever before they upped it to 75, people started getting bored quick cause you could level to 40 in no time. I hope they roll out an expansion before that happens with SWTOR.

I've gotten a trooper to level 10, and puttered around with a Sith warrior and the other one (inquisitor was it?). So far the story telling is great, but it doesn't feel a whole lot different from wow when I step back. Maybe that's just a facet of MMO design, or even just rpg design. Still planning to pick it up on launch, but I'm not totally sure I want to play another MMO long term.

decided to finally pre-order this as bestbuy still had the CE available. tried to input my pre-order code and bam "THIS CODE IS ALREADY IN USE".

    fucking sadface.

sent a ticket into them so hopefully hear a response soon. but I'm pretty touchy when it comes to mmo's not supporting their players these days. if they won't help to rectify the situation, I'll just can my pre-order. I won't pay a dime to something that won't show support this early in the game. we will see what they say.

I've read on the SWTOR forums that this has happened a lot with bestbuy pre-orders. Hopefully they will work this out soon.

I got my trooper almost to lvl 24 before the servers went down. I tried the Flashpoints and Space Battles and both were a lot of fun. One thing I really love about it so far is money and items aren't too hard to come by so far. The last MMO I played you couldn't afford or craft most stuff till you were beyond the level to use it. That in turn opened up a huge market for farmers and the game went downhill from there.

Ah so it's widespread. Maybe bestbuy was given invalid keys.

Still, someone is false advertising there if that is the case and I hope it gets straightened out. I can understand them telling you up front that they're out of early access codes, but when they advertise it as a perk of preordering and they give invalid or hacked codes, then that's another issue.

I was involved with the beta test over the holiday weekend. I chose a Jedi Consular and made it to Level 6.

Format and layout are very similar to your WoW-type RPG. I have to hand it to them on the quests and storytelling though. Both were fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoy the personal interactions with NPCs that we've come to know and love with many Bioware titles.

I am currently a sub holder for World of Warcraft, and I would consider playing SWTOR. I need to know more about endgame though. I won't pre order it (yet), but I definitely plan on subbing after a month or two. I want to make sure the momentum carries through unlike Rift, which totally peetered out.

A game like Star Wars will always have a magnitude of people involved because of the brand name it carries - just like Warcraft did when it launched. The game is rough around the edges right now, but they'll smooth it out ... and they'll continue to add new things to the game. The quests and storylines are AWESOME ... but WoW plays SOOOOOOO smooth compared to Star Wars.

It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Played a Trooper to 22 in the two days I played. It felt like I was playing as Commander Shepard in a Star Wars game since it was the same voice actor and developer, but it wasn't a bad thing. I enjoyed what I played, but crew missions seem a bit nebulous and expensive. It would be nice to know what the possible returns are before starting a mission. Spending 200 credits for a couple of basic crafting materials also adding up quickly, leaving me broke essentially all the time just trying to get enough material to creat gear with.

It still feels like WoW for the most part, and this might put me off the game pretty quickly at end game, but the story elements and Star Wars elements were enjoyable.
