I'm not really "hopping for a new Transformers attacment character". However, I am sitting with anticipation wondering if there will be a new character that will be prominently featured in future films and whom it might be. :p

Well, there's probably always going to be a certain character that is featured more than others. Not even just for marketing sakes, but from an overall story POV as well. I mean, as I writer, would you meticulously plan out each and every Transformer character's screentime, dialogue and presence in order that they all get treated equally? What if certain scenes hit the cutting room floor? Oops, now that "equality" is gone. So-and-so now has more focus than Such-and-Such.

Think of Toy Story 1-3. Woody and Buzz hog the screen while Ham and Rex get shoved off to minor characters. But why? Most people would argue that "it's their story", despite the title inferring that the ensemble cast would be front-and-center. Or Alice in Wonderland. Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum get WAY more focus than say, the Dodo. It's what the filmmakers felt was necessary. Sort of the same thing with Transformers.

The movies could've had dozens and dozens of possibilities for character focus. The Bay films have obviously focused on Optimus and 'Bee throughout. In any other parallel universe they might've had that same formula but for Megatron and Starscream. Then Optimus and 'Bee would've gotten the shaft. Or maybe the movie would've been "The Hound and Cliffjumper Show", and shelves would be piling up with millions of versions of those characters and there would be wailing and gnashing of teeth and so on. Dozens of outcomes, all with someone ending up complaining.

I'm alright with the concept of a certain character or two being front-and-center. Granted, I'd also like an adequate amount of focus for the other characters too, but... having a couple of extremely prominent characters like Optimus, Megatron, Starscream, 'Bee, Sentinel, Jetfire and Wheelie flanked by "uh...Ironhide...that medical dude, those gangster twins, that tentacle satellite, that big guy climbing the pyramid and the Solstice" is better than having a group of characters that don't really stand out from one another in terms of presence. (Now, good writing could easily solve that issue.) Just my thoughts. :)

    Hound, for a few reasons:
Bumblebee has named a TVTropes page, so he's BIG, too big now
Hound is more down-to-earth and also turns into an off-road vehicle, which grants better scenes
Bumblebee is overdone and dying a slow character death
Hound is barely used, and this would let him come back big-time

Plus, The film crew's running out of autobots who AREN'T non-combatants.

We need someone to stand in for Ironhide who gets all the kills the original deserved before Sentinel ended him...

None, take the Autobot cast they have now add like one or two more and make the robots the focus not the humans. Now is the perfect time for them to shift the focus off of the humans and move it to the robots(the real reason anyone watches the movies).

After thinking about this, Hound probably deserves this more than Sunstreaker or Hot Shot. I mean, Bumblebee kinda stole the whole "kid-appeal chatacter" spot from him back in G1, and we haven't seen Hound at all since G1 either. This would be a great way to get him back into Transformers.

I'm kind of hoping for a brand new character. Similar to how Evac in TF the Ride is new in everything except name, I hope that Bumblebee takes a back seat to a filmmaker's unique creation who they can develop a character for from scratch. That would be far more interesting.

Honestly I don't see why people complain about Prime being in the films as much as he is. It's like complaining Homer Simpson or Sonic the Hedgehog appear too much, like it or not, Optimus is the main character!

Hasbro can't use the name Hot Rod or Autobot Hot Rod. Too generic for them to secure any rights over.

...as for "Rodimus", pretty useless unless they're going to kill Prime off again...Never mind the fact it's not even a word.

In the G1 cartoon wasn't Spike the attachment character into the world of the Transformers?

I wish the movies would take this approach and introduce a larger group of Autobots. Add in even 5 new characters to the ones that are already there (maybe Sunstreaker, Hound, Blaster, Prowl, and Hot Rod) and re-use previous CG models for the characters from the previous movies.

In the early seasons of the Simpsons, Homer was a supporting character. Bart was the main character.

If the next filmmaker and scriptwriters were smart, they'd have attachment characters on both sides. One thing the films got wrong was that you could only become attached to the Autobots... Much as I HATE Twilight, it has multiple characters for people to become attached to. Transformers gives you Prime and Bee (mostly Bee). Spiderman's original trilogy did the same thing to great effect... you got attached to the bad guys AND the good guys.

I'd vote that Thundercracker be written in as Starscream's second in command, similar to how he's been in IDW... a more sympathetic con who's not sure of the war. On the bots side, Rodimus would be a good fit... I thought movie Bee shoulda been Hot Rodimus the whole time, as movie Bee (aside from being mute) has more in common with Hot Rod than the original Bumblebee.

It does make sense. If you're gonna give the humans a new puppy dog Transformer to train then may as well pick one with a doggy name.

I'm not if sure hopping would make them create a new attachment character.
