If that's the case, it does sound like cleaning out this sheared plastic and sanding down what might be considered excess would sort it out - what exactly is visually different between the left and right thigh mechanisms when taken apart anyway? Not very obvious I would gather?
Maybe it needs to be done straight out of the box to establish what has gone wrong with the left thigh assembly.

 

It doesn't sort it out if it already happened. The damage is done and there isn't a fix once it happens. You can mitigate the damage by shaving away the crushed plastic with a hobby knife and then sand the rough edges away but the ratcheting is still shot and does not have tight locks anymore. The friction still holds the legs in place fine which is okay for now but who knows further down the line, especially when this guy gets heavier and heavier with each figure.

I'm not really sure what you mean by left and right thigh mechanisms being different. They are both the same. The shearing of the gears was present in both of the hip ratchets in mine, though the right one seemed to be suffering more.

 

Does this issue need to be addressed and fixed by TFC? most definitely yes.

Does it suck that now we will see MORE delays? Absolutely!!! More than I can possibly covey.

Honestly, I'm not sure if I'd rather have a fix or my Dr. Crank/Structor on time.

Ive been thinking on jumping ship i mean HL's thighs are a very important part of the whole combined mode and a near $600 toy that cant stand or pose cause the legs(thighs) wont lock then?. I could see if i had HL for a year or two and this happens but ive had HL a week !!!! TFC ITS TIME TO STEP UP OR LOOSE OUT!!! Im starting to look toward Gaint and NOT BUY ANY MORE TFC STUFF AT ALL!!!( and i really wont Herc over Giant)Its all up to you TFC maybe use anther type of plastic for this part and ship it with the next fig,Stop with the BS and take your time before you have all of fandom feeling like I do.

 

Good idea, problem was thats WHAT they were doing, then you had people screaming that that "They weren't going to finish it" or "They were never coming out at all" People were jumping ship BECAUSE they were taking thier time.

 

I can definitely see tfc losing some business off of this. I for one who have been all in on the Hercules project find myself thinking it may be better to get out now, sell the two figures I have and save 600 dollars. Don't get me wrong Hercules looks great but these design flaws are bull shit. You would think tfc would have the time to transform and play with their figures and find out there is a major problem before mass releasing them. Seriously how long did it take members here to find this problem? A few hours. Come on tfc get your shit in line.

So I got my HL yesterday. Overall, great figure. However, the very first movement of the legs forwards....I could feel the gears stripping. Squeekity squeek. Mine is stripped to shit too.

 

Please go to their Facebook page and let them know. They've been unresponsive to my inquiries and they need this put in their face I think.

 

They had to have known about this BEFORE release, but since it was already delayed due to the Exgraver issue, they didn't want to delay HL any longer, especially considering Giants eminent release...

I think HL was rushed out the door basically...

 

i've been away for a few days, bring me up to speed on whats being encountered, and how prevalant is it ending up being?

 

i used the POL when I bought my herc parts. I already had stuff in my POL so i was not charged much for shipping (maybe $1 per fig)

In my POL it shows how much they charged (including shipping) for each figure in it.

I was charged $97.99 for heavylabor including shipping, so no, I did not pay more than $6-$7 more than most people, BUT I can guarantee you that if my HL is jacked up I'll be compensated.

 

I'm not talking shipping charges...thats on the customer...the price of the actual figure however, is $20 more...regardless of why it's $20 more, it still stands that it is...Plus, it still takes 1-2 weeks longer to get stuff from BBTS...and again, that's the bigger issue IMO

 

I think people are still willing to forgive TFC for being 0-2 on these figures (upon release) because they are quick to fix their mistakes. If the third figure comes out and continues the theme of QC/design issues I can see many jumping ship.

Remember, when the third Herc figure comes out Giant is supposed to start being out as well. Once people have an option that is tangible, the game is going to change.


On a personal note. I really do hope TFC stops being plagued with all these misfortunes. Hercules is a moster of a bot, he opened the door to 3rd party combiners and well, TFC deserves the win for being brave enough to be the first to venture on such a large project that fans obviously desire.

Unfortunately, they've been lackadaisical when it comes to this new issue. I hope it's just because they are troubleshooting the issue on their end and want to wait to comment until they know more, of course, giving a heads up that they are aware of the problem would be nice as well.

 

Dammit... The more I read about these ratchet joints the more I wish I hadn't gotten my HL till after seeing some reviews. And now I preordered 2 more Hercules components from RK.... Ugh. Wonder what will go wrong with those. I'm fucking this close to bailing on this project. I don't want to deal with this crap.

 

I just cancelled my HL with BBTS because I am losing confidence in the project.

Maybe this is an unrealistic expectation born out of entitlement, but for $100 a figure, I feel like these things should be arriving at my door worry free. I'm still bitter about Exgraver's bunk shovel arm, and I DO think it's great that a new arm ships with HL, but if I have to buy a flawed HL to get that fix, then I'd rather just cut my losses and just bail.

Once we hear something in regards to how TFC plans to address this, then I may order HL again. But for now, I'm willing to sit back and watch how it plays out with as little vested in the project as possible.
