    I think it was only introduced in the second film. I'm not sure, I haven't watched the first film in a while, but I don't think any lubricants were seen, well, except for Bumblebee peeing.

    Don't remember any robot drooling or spitting in the first movie. All that spitting, drooling stuff starting in ROTF

    yeah, they're supposed to be "living" things, in a way, i suppose, so they have organic material in them. so its fitting.

    Starscream is only spitting when hes excited or in disgust. hence him not spitting when cowering to Megatron.

    Having fluids does not necessarily denote organic material, except in the chemical sense. They could still be completely mechanical and have various fluids, much like a car or many other forms of machinery.

    it wasnt blood. It was lubricant-oilish liquid. It probably helps there systems run probably and stay clean

    This is one of the things I hope they remove in TF4. But the end of the DOTM, all of the Transformers had gotten so "juicy" it was getting a little ridiculous. A little hydraulics leaking here and there isn't that big of a deal, but they were spitting/drooling all over the place sometimes. They kind of lost their solid metal robotic feel when that started happening.

    I suppose these fluids were added mainly because of 3D, to let viewers see more things 'flying' towards them from the screen.

    But anyhow, it didn't bother me at all.
