Which makes it a little frustrating when those toys are delayed a year. :(

Imma have to vote for Prime, hands down. While i loved animated, the first season was boring except blackarachnia and the season finale. Whereas Prime had a strong start and finish, as well as everything in between, Arcee is a new take on the character and it's very refreshing to get a kick-ass female autobot. Plus we get introduced to a great new bunch of characters (Airachnid, Breakdown, Knockout, etc.) The humans are interesting, though nobody will ever compare to sari's epicness. Season 2 of Animated was on par with this season of prime. The only cool human villain in Animated was nanosec imo. Not to mention while a new prime worked well for animated, a much more serious and deadly Optimus made for a really neat character who never faultered. He gets back to how the original prime was but with the feeling of true power, he's not constantly getting severely injured and actually manages to be very powerful while still having that peacefulness about him. Also a truly terrifying Megatron for TFP is very nice while animated also has very menacing Megatron but he's not nearly as scary. But both series are great though, no doubt.

As much as I did love Animated, I have to give the vote to Prime now that I just finished watching all 26 episodes of Season 1 in the past two days. I didn't think I would like Prime better since the premier five episodes really bored me and I wasn't a fan of having little kids in a new show, but wow, that was some seriously amazing writing when all was said & done. I'm not big on the whole mystical side of Transformers lore, but they did it well here. And even though I absolutely do have some major gripes with this new series, I can't deny its more mature feeling or (usually) great voice acting & animation. I'm very, very impressed overall.

Animated was great - obviously - but I do remember Season 1 taking a long time to get going and it having a lot of filler episodes. The show never really launched the way I wanted it to until halfway through Season 2 - then it got pretty phenomenal.

But yeah, side by side, Prime takes it over Animated for most engaging first season.

Prime was more exciting and Arcee gave me several boners. Prime is the obvious winner.

However, Animated had an excellent Season 2 and its Season 3 started off extremely strong.

    Prime

Animated had some good episodes too, but prime was definatly better. No episodes wasted on ridicilous human villains.

Prime for me is the best, I liked Animated but could never love it as much as Prime...Primes more appealing to me (both design-wise and story wise).

I am pleasantly surprised to see that Prime is winning this poll. I might disagree with that but if the majority of people are responding positively to the latest Transformers media and prefer it to the older stuff then that is a great thing for the future of our beloved franchise.

Prime. Could barely watch Episode 1 of Animated and got sick of it very quickly. Prime wins.

The way Animated portrayed Transformers reminded me pleasantly of the whole Beast Wars era. As said before: original, funny, convincing character development, great human characters a good back story and overall story arc. In many respects Animated was more then meets the eye.
Prime hasn't reached this debt yet it basically rehashes other/older TF interpretations and covers it with a layer of cgi. Throw in Cullen and Welker and most fans are pleased. The whole thing comes of rather cheap to me. I enjoyed Starscream but I enjoyed knockout even more, he is the only person in the whole series who seems to have a little bit fun.
Arguably the only TF who can light the darkest hours of Transformers Prime.

    Animated.

Animated had me hooked 5 minutes in, Prime didn't get my attention until there were 5 minutes LEFT.

    (Thats LITERALLY not an exaggeration)

So prime didnt grab your attention untill after you watched 26 episodes? That makes no sense. How did you watch 26 episodes if it didnt hold your attention? Obviously it did.

I've watched all 26 episodes and can safely say it is very possible, although Prime didn't get actually boring for me until about Predatory. You get excited, thinking "Oh this ep might be good." But no, it's the same old shit up until the very end. But you keep watching each ep because you're a TF fan and want to give it a chance.

Perhaps it's because he hoped the series would improve with each passing episode? Just a guess.
