He did go too far but the dude protected himself the only way he knew how...extreme violence. This is why you don't get stupid and attack random strangers, you never know the beat down you may recieve. Legally I will be surprised if the McDude actually gets convicted. Self defence is a huge defence considering the two morons jumped over the counter to attack him. All I know...McDonalds is going to be paying out a lot of money to everyone invovled.
Be careful when you get pissed at the cashier at Mcdonalds Gruesome video, mods i dont know if this is against the rules. Apology in advance... McDonald's Cashier Attacks Customers With Metal Rod
Page 2 is your friend: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/general-discussion/478101-would-you-like-some-metal-rod.html
I have, but i think it crazy to beat on females with a metal rod, even though they were in they wrong...
The most shocking part for ME: The fact that there are people so self-entitled and stupid that they really and truly believe that they have some kind of RIGHT to go past the counter, attack a man, and not expect any sort of defense from him. I can't imagine being in that situation and NOT splashing hot fry grease in their faces.
You attack someone unprovoked? Anything they do in self-defense goes, ovaries be damned. Having those two lumps of tissue in your pelvis does not give you a free pass.
Maybe this needs to be merged with the "Stupid Customers" thead. I'm glad I don't live in the city. There's too many self centered idiots with chips on their shoulders. I'm also thankful I don't work at a job where I have to deal with customers at all. Hopefully the cashier doesn't get too much of a rap for what happened. He did go overboard, but they were asking for it.
The cashier tells his side of the story: Customer-Bashing McDonald's Cashier Says He Was Just Defending Himself: "I'm Not A Heartless Person": Gothamist Article says the Darbeau woman may have brain damage from the beating. I'm not so sure she didn't have brain damage BEFORE the beating.
Yeah, there is such a thing as reasonable force? The guy clearly went way, way over the top laying into them while they where down. He probably didn't even need to get into a physical confrontation with them, he clearly came back with the weapon to set about them, he had every opportunity to get out of the situation.
There is an issue of commiserate response, though. If someone gives you a small shove or whatever, it's overreacting to cave their skull in with a bat. That's why the law allows for a level of self-defense that is reasonable in response to the threat. In this particular case, the first hit might not have been unwarranted (not so much for the slap, but for jumping over the counter), but a continued beating after the momentum of attack shifted to the ARMED cashier might be considered crossing into assault, especially since he continued to hit her after she was on the ground. Her dialogue may have implied to some degree she was armed, but it didn't look like she was able to fight back in any way when she was on the ground, and in fact looked like she was trying to get away from the cashier.
