Yeah, alright. I'll leave it there because I have no desire to get into a hair splitting debate with blind bias movie lovers (or haters) who mistake their personal opinions as being proven facts or their own personal enjoyment (or loathing) of ROTF as being a proven gauge of anything concrete. It made what it made - you either loved or hated it - all is good.

Unless you are a Paramount stock holder then who gives a Rattrap's rear end?

I don't base the movies I like upon how much it made at the box office. Scott Pilgrim vs The World hardly made a dent at the box office but I enjoyed the film while Titanic made a boat load of money and I was bored silly most of the film. Avatar made money hand over fist but I just felt kind of eh about the movie.

    It's called "being a fan."

It's no different than sports teams. Fans will be fans no matter what, but they will celebrate measured success.

Yea but even with fans those die hard Detroit Lions fans stuck by their team when the Lions could not win any games at all. The people who loved the Transformers films would still love them just as much even if the films had failed at the box office.

Seems like there are so many other better things you could use when you want to say how much your favorite films impacted popular culture. Transformers moving more toys than Avatar kind of says kids are more into Transformers than they are Avatar.
