I love the Transformers films a lot, but I do notice that there are a few oddities in them. For example, one thing I've always found strange are the exposed inner, sensitive components on the robots. Their outer armor doesn't cover them entirely which leaves things like wires and circuit boards exposed. I've always though that one well placed blast would render these bots seriously damaged and would lessen or eliminate the ability to function of certain parts. For example, take a look at the following image of Megatron and the hatchlings. Notice that there's an exposed component with with wires on his leg; one blast to that component would probably render his leg useless. Anyhow, what do you guys think of this?

The only robot who had exposed critical parts is Devastator.

That's not true. I've seen exposed parts on a considerable number of the robots, including Optimus, Megatron (as shown above and in T1), and others.

Yeah. When you think of it, ROTF could've been even worse. Just imagine Prime or some other bot kicking him in the nuts and Devy then goes tumbling down the pyramid.

I don't know how "he has some wires on his leg" translates immediately to "that is a vital part and one hit will destroy his leg".

Not to mention that those cables may look vital but a blast wouldn't take them out, because they're made of sterner stuff.

Its just a device related to design.

To make them look more mechanical and alien.

Of course, what you say is completely logical, a critical hit in those parts and you dont wanna think about what would that poor Cybertronian feel, but its just a tool of the designers.

Yes, I get the joke. It's a reference to a quote from the 1986 movie.

Remember, though - the amount of "armor" they have is limited by the mass of whatever vehicle they scan, as well as the distribution of that mass over their protoform.

Is that Bonecrusher Jr. on the bottom right corner of that cap?

Yeah, it's a pretty well known thing that people complained about. I have more of an issue with the joints. Some of them don't look at all like they'd be able to support that much weight or even allow that degree of movement. Bit too much suspension of disbelief for me.

Even so, the fact of the matter is that these bots shouldn't last that long in battle since it's very probably that a wire or some inner circuit board can be easily damaged. Just look at Megatron's leg in T1.

Maybe the wires are just part of the disguise for the vehicle mode and serve no actual purpose.

Weren't you the same guy who so skeptically demanded, on the 25th of last month, that certain posters "show me these exposed inner mechanisms"? I even have a link to those demands of yours.

Whos says the exposed parts are vital or somehow weak? Would logic dictate they keep all their vitals in their chests under all the layers of armour and bulk?

Also Smasher is right, some of the exposed wires could just be leftovers from the vehicle mode. Bumblebee's brake padsand parts of his engine are clearly exposed on his body, even though they're not part of the outward appearence in vehicle mode, just cosmetic leftovers from his disguise.

Also the robots are smashed to hell in the movies and still kick. Obviously the "delicate exposed vitals" are not so delicate or vital.

Igor is Bonecrusher's head. Remeber what happened to frenzy, when his head was cut off? Same thing.
