Personaly for me DragonBall Z ended with Frieza's saga. Toriyama wanted the series to end with it and the whole thing was set up as the big awesome finale of the show. But the guys in suits forced him to do more and everything after that just didn't feel right.

Toriyama is a mad genious in my eyes. The dude had no idea what the fuck he was doing and he didn't even really care.

When he drew DragonBall manga he litteraly knew what's going to happen in that chapter, parts what's going to happen in the next and no clue what's gonna happen beyond that.

Hell the dude kept FORGETTING THE NAMES of his own characters!

Cell saga and Buu saga are just series of asspulls after asspulls after asspulls. He just HAD to stop it since he couldn't do it anymore :lol

But the anime team just HAD to do more and we got GT...which shall not be talked about.

lol yea but that sounds pretty typical for anime isn't it?

they often go beyond the manga source material. or they go off and do something completely different, or add a character.

i guess that's what happens when you have two different sets of writers lol.

i just did a search for gunbuster 2, wow, wtf happened? did they have to make it look so "typical" anime?

    :lol

i fear what might happen if they remake some of the other older animes...

and not to mention, they spent all that time building gohan as the next hero, and then buu comes around, and they go back to goku being the hero. instead of continuing to build up gohan. they toss him a side! hell even in GT he's turned into a very minor character.

instead gt became a show about his daughter, grampa and trunks!

although i did like gt because of that, it really down graded the other amazing characters.

it would of been nicer to see gohan defeat buu, with OUT goku!

Buu had some neat points (really liked the end actually, with Goku's farewell) but the arc overall just dragged on way to goddamn long. Actually, pretty much every arc in the show did. Not even counting three episode long power-up sequences, some of the enemies just had too many forms that needed to be magic-beaned, wished, or hair-danced away.

That was the best part about GT for me, the crazy pacing increase.

Not really. like I said ,I like it but not as much as Cell's. Buu saga had many great moments too

I kind off agree.I thought Gohan was a bit underused in Buu's saga

Anyone have a list of all the anime movies Sci-Fi channel used to show years ago?

I remember one with a boy and his dog vs some robots, MD Geist, some samurai chick vs demons disguised as people, AKIRA, some anime with a flying green alien, a chewbacca looking guy, and a luke skywalker looking dude with a green jem in his hand, and lastly Vampire Hunter D which I always missed when it was on.

Just finished watching Tiger and Bunny. What a great ending to the first season! Also finished Ao no Exorcist (blue exorcist). Around ep 18, they went completely off the manga story and the ending sucked honestly.

    Just finished Infinite Ryvius.

The first half is rather typical and tired, IMO, lacking in emotional weight, even with the supposedly high stakes of survival at hand. It's only when things go all "Lord of the Flies" in the second half that the character development starts ramping up and the show really starts to get interesting.

Not too bad, in the end, but sitting through the whole thing highlighted a problem I have getting into older anime nowadays. I'm really starting to notice the limited-ness of the animation in older, cel-animated productions, and these constraints reflect heavily on the pacing of the series, too. Even when situations get frantic, the pacing tends to say otherwise: limited scene-changes and character movements don't impart any kinetic energy to the given situations. Rather a drag, when the product is otherwise pretty good. Plus, more recap-episodes tends to be a common occurrence, something that's thankfully gone by the wayside as of late.

Started watching Beck. It's catching my attention far quicker, with its characters being more readily identifiable.

Beck was thoroughly enjoyable, whenever I saw it years ago. I sort of rue that the anime (and manga) didn't feature Maho more, because Maho is awesome.

Just finished Blood-C. So, we've had 11 slow, drawn-out, plot-stalling episodes that pay off in one way-over-the-top-with gore action finale, that sets up a movie in June. The final episode was lots of fun, and what I've been wanting Production IG to do with Blood fiction since The Last Vampire (though the gore was a little excessive.) Still, it annoys me that the previous episodes were so slow and purposefully just stalling the reveals to the point of repetitiveness. Looking forward to the movie!

Speaking of Production IG, looks like Kenji Kamiyama is going to do a Cyborg 009 project next. What the hell, Kenji? Where's S.A.C. season 3? MOTOKOOOOO!
