Wow I was thinking of getting both but after seeing these photo, I'll be saving a LOT of money and just get TFC.

Those arm trailers and the colors are the final nail in the coffin for me.

I'm glad it will be yellow. Nice contrast between the two Devys.

Price is lame. 68 bucks for a scout? Was hoping for 50 per.

Man, Maketoys can't win. TFC beat them to market with Giant, and everyone who's already in on him wants a yellow one next, so they think "okay, we'll do a yellow one for people who want two devastators and sell our green one when TFC is all sold out of theirs." Now people hate that. I kind of like it. Since I've already ordered the first two on Herc, the only way I'd ever buy this is if they went a different way with it.

They had a choice. They could either be the "you could buy a bigger devastator for a little more money" company, or they could be the "still got money to spend after buying Hercules? Here's a yellow devastator!" company. Someday you won't be able to order Herc bits from BBTS, then Maketoys drops their green one. They'll also pick up some extra sales even on the yellow one by being the first completed devastator to market, so some compulsives will buy him even though they hate the color.

That said, I don't know that I need two devastators. I guess if the price is right, I'd consider it, but there's practically no chance it'll ever be "right" enough for me to find room for him. I could probably be talked into it in the $200 range, but they want twice that much before shipping. I don't hate it, but I've made my choice. I'm happy with it.

Whoever it was a few pages back that suggested yellow hook as classics erector is giving me pause, though.

Also a little annoyed at the price on that G2 Prime trailer. Definite buy at 60, probable buy at 80. 100's tough with all the other shit I've gotta buy.

And hasbro will probably try to sell me some toys next year, too.

I like how people complain over a 100 dollar deluxe trailer from these guys, but from fansproject, it's all "GIMME".

I am SO happy their devastator is yellow. G2 devastator was my first devastator (that wasnt an action master, anyways) So even though I saw the green one growing up on TV, a yellow one is much preferred for me. I NEED this now.

Yellow is awesome. I am actually glad for this. I will be getting this one and passing on the green. I am getting Herc so, something different makes it an easy decision.

I'm kinda hoping he's yellow and black (or dark grey), for realism's sake, rather than G2 yellow and purple.

If one wishes, they could pass them off as "Autobot Devastator", before he got brainwashed by Megatron ala the G1 'toon (as stupid as the idea is). The smaller stature and major design departures with the individual bots between Giant and Hercules (for those buying both) could account for "weaponized" upgrades they received under service of the Decepticons or something.

    *shrug*

These guys aren't on my plate at the moment, but I do like what I'm seeing of the individual figures, from a creative standpoint at least. The drastic design departures aren't really hitting the pressing the right buttons otherwise.

As far as the combined form goes, Herc's got this one trumped. Those shoulders...

Well, I think a kickass ultra magnus (which has been near-universally favorably reviewed for several years) has more appeal than a possibly-kickass G2 Prime (which hasn't been in a customer's hand yet). A lot of people have Season 3 shelves, comparatively few have G2 shelves (see the "YELLOW DEVASTATOR?!!?" complaints for reference).

Also City Commander and Protector both originally retailed for less than this. 83 bucks or so, I think.

Yellow is cool, I wasn't expecting that. Even so, I don't think I'll be getting this now with those prices. I'm already getting Hercules and I'm just not willing to spend so much for another version of the same character.

Going to pass on Yellow maketoys devy. I like green cuz that's what's in the cartoon. May still pick up the G2 laser prime trailer. $100 is tough to swallow but... i may just bite since I did go out of my way to buy RTS G2 prime.

man, decisions. not sure what they were thinking with yellow, although the price is right. really like the two-pack idea, but i think i agree with everyone else and detest how those trailers are not the bomb. where do they go in botmode? i assume theyre detachable.
btw, how on earth is hook's crane hanging so low behind dev's knees in this photo?

I think Fallen is a good pick, he deserves a new version.

I like what I see and I don't mind G2 yellow colors. I have both G1 green and G2 yellow devys......now if this guy were Black now I would definitely jump in without doubts :)  But still I prefer this guy over the TFC and thats just me giving my honest opinion.

I'm pretty sure the central shaft pulls out entirely, and is probably pegged to his back, separately from the rest of the boom.

IIRC, the blurry teaser of "Hook" showed him using it like a sword.

did you see my post regarding our bet in the other TFC thread?
also, any ideas whats on the back on scavenger's leg?

edit: looks like thats the piece that the trailers attach to, and forms part of the elbow joint on devs/

I was all about this toy ... until today. $410 and yellow both are bad news. Its just too much and the wrong color. Sure, it is cheaper than the Hercules ... but not yellow and not for that price. Maybe I would change my mind if it were green, but yellow is a non-starter. Maybe that G1 add-on kit that one company was making (not the really expensive pieces sold by Crazy Devy) will be amazing.
