Wow, I don't know what to say.

I did not know him personally but we did speak on the boards a few times and he was a very nice fellow. Very sad to hear this.

It's times like this where people should take a step back and realize how quickly life can be cut short. Treat people with a kind heart. We all take things for granted and, whether it is on the internet or not, people should just learn to get along and cherish one another. You just never know when your time on this earth will be up.

    RIP

Thank you TFW staff for front paging this as I might not have found out for some time.

Arcee, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Gary was such a great guy. He and I and two other guys shared a room at Botcon 2004 in Pasadena, CA. We were so excited because it was his first Botcon and we were both meeting our superstar idol Peter Cullen for the very first time. We even got to stand together in the autograph line for him. He took a picture of me and Peter and I took one of both of them. I don't think it turned out as well as the one he took of me and I always felt bad about that. The one I took is NOT the one that most people have seen and commented on. I wish it was, I wish I had taken a better pic for him, but he seemed to be overjoyed nonetheless. I am so glad I got to share that amazing first encounter with Peter Cullen with him because he was definitely a worthy person to share something so special like that.

This just shocks me so much, even though I think about things like this from time to time. I only really get to see my TF buddies once a year wherever Botcon is being held, and I tell you, it's just not enough. Gary I'm going to miss you even though these past couple of years we just said quick "Hi's and How ya doin's?" Luisa I'll pray for continued support for you and the kids and try to send a Paypal donation asap. Rest in piece Gary!

Edit: When I first saw the news I thought it said Garry Chalk and I was like, aw man that sucks. Then I read it again and saw it said Gary Clark and said OH NO, no freaking way!! Damn...

I remember seeing him at the last NJCC and thinking his costume was pretty cool. Wish I would have said something at the time. It was my first con and I was a little on the shy side. Rest in Peace Gary, my prayers go out to your family.

I've been friends with Gary since he helped me snag the Shattered Glass set at Botcon back in 2008. He was an amazingly awesome guy, and he'd always just randomly call me when he found something new or had just bought something he wanted. I remember him calling me after getting home from TFcon and getting that old TF train set. His encouragement is part of the reason I went to TFcon this year and had such a great time. The last time we spoke was sometime between Botcon and Tfcon this year, and he was sorry he wasn't going to make it up to Toronto this year. We talked about hanging out up there next year. I'm sad that's not going to happen now. Gary was truly the nicest and most genuine guy I've had the pleasure of meeting in this fandom. I will miss the random phone calls, but not nearly as much as I'll miss Gary himself.

Sad to see a fellow collector pass away so early in life.

(part of me wonders at a modern nation needing the paypal thing to pay for the funeral though)

If Hasbro released that Laser Prime into Scourge repaint, and put "In Memory of Gary Clark" on the back of the card...would be a great tribute to one of Hasbro's biggest supporters.

I agree. It would only be right if they were to donate a portion of the sales to his family also. This type of thing has been done before, if someone were able to get this information to the right people at Hasbro, it's very possible such a deal could be worked out.

My thanks.continue to all those who have supported me through this time. Yesterday was difficult but I managed. Special thanks to Shane, Curt, Sherry, and Nate who stayed by my side the whole time. I think the five of us stayed by him longer than anyone else. I could have stayed there all night if they would have let me. I'm hoping he is returned to me by the end of the week so I can have a memorial for him in philly for everyone who was not able to attend.

I hope I'm not stepping over any boundaries when asking this. Was Gary in the service and passed overseas protecting his nation?

How do you really ask someone, all the while being sensative, as to how their loved one passed?

He died suddenly at home. I asked the same question since he was so young. If the family doesn't want the public to know, I respect their wishes.
