Speaking of games, I just fucked myself hard today in my top 4 match. I don't remember the exact shit, but I set 3 cards down, them being Magical Hats, Torrential Tribute & Dimensional Prison. I debated about whether I wanted to set Torrential as well, but eventually just set it to avoid taking time & likely because I had a Geartown set, meaning that he wouldn't be been quick to use Heavy Storm if he had it. So after this, the guy I was playing overextends the shit (which I guess he had to do for the next play), that being a Dark Armed Dragon. I didn't have anything to negate the summon, so I tell him to pick one to destroy when he says he's activating the effect. He picks Dimensional Prison, and in my brilliance, I toss it into the Graveyard & say that I won't chain to it because I'm thinking Torrential was still in my hand... which it wasn't. I didn't even notice that it was set until after he'd already destroyed Magical Hats so it wasn't something I could chalk up to a communication breakdown & try to do anyway. I pretty much lost for being an idiot, haha. qq ... and what made this worse was that regardless of whether or not I might've been able to win, I had just gone through a hella long/hard/close game in top 8 right before. It was sort of like duking it out with Megatron & barely coming out on top, and then losing the next battle because you tripped over your shoelace. The guy I beat in the previous round was like wtf fuck this game when he saw me lose like that, and I just felt like shit. Not like it's a big deal or anything couse we're all friends, but it just sucks to lose like that after playing decently well all day. Hahahahaa, I also brainfarted on Curse of Royal & let someone use it on me multiple times to negate shit like Heavy Storm & Greenkappa that it can't be chained to, as it only works on cards that aim to destroy 1 spell or trap (rather than something that cares about a spell or trap being slated for destruction).
Found out today that a friend of mine pulled out a Roach. He's the sort of guy who's always lucky, though, so not a total surprise.
Well, if you wanna take away some of his happiness, just remind your friend about the countless trash packs he's opened over the years, and how pulling one chase card/staple/whatever you wanna call it like Roach probably doesn't come close to breaking even in the long run. Dreams. They're just as easy to step on as Roaches.
Actually, he always gets something good, I'm serious. He's managed to get a lot of Super/Ultra Rares, and he sells/trades them off.
I found a whole box of Yugioh cards and my first generation duel disk earlier... but alas, my interest in Yugioh has long faded. Is anybody here interested? I know there's some super/ultra rares in there, mainly from the first 5 booster lines, and a stack of about 1000 various commons and rares. I know I have a Solemn Judgment for sure (that was the shit back in the day) and probably around 15 of the video game promos. While a lot of the cards probably don't have much play value, maybe someone here just wants older stuff. PM me if interested. I may just eBay the cards with the duel disk if I don't get any offers. I was surprised to find out that it can fetch quite a pretty penny these days. Also, I know I have the God Cards, but I probably will hold on to those 3 as keepsakes. Just curious, but how valuable are these nowadays?
Just throwing in my 2 cents: I have only a passing interest in the game; owing mostly to the terrible but constantly repeated dub being broadcast enough to get me to check it out. Although I did enjoy GX way more than I should have... I never collected the actual cards, though. Once I figured out that the video games could contain whatever I needed without fruitless pack-buying & only a minor investment, that was all I needed. And I really enjoyed some of the YuGiOh action figures back when popularity was at its peak. Am I alone in this?
I'm the same way. I stopped collecting the cards after awhile because I kept getting crap out of the booster packs. Now I'm mostly playing the video games or I'm on Duel Network, I have no reason to buy psychical cards now if I can just play digitally
Gaaaaaah, so pissed off right now. My comic shop ran out of LC02 in the morning, and the clerk wasn't sure if they'd restock it, and there were people who apparently bought doubles of it. D:<
I have a whole bunch of cards including Exodia, proto cards, and a crap load of others. I have no idea what these are all worth and unlike Transformers I do not have the interest to look them up. If someone is interested PM me. I also have Dragon Ball Z and other lines as well. Mostly from 2000 to 2004. These were my sons and he just wants to get rid of them.
Am i the only one who doesn't like the Hero cards? Also, the fact they're spelled in CAPS is really annoying to me. I guess my issue with them is that...well, it seems so over-done. Elemental Heroes seem too much like regular superheros for me. The flying bird-guy, the fireball-casting hero, seen it all before really. Destiny and Evil Heroes are slightly more interesting, but still... I like other cards better.
Well, the reason why they're spelled in caps now is so people wouldn't use their support with other cards with the word "Hero" in them. Kind of the point, they're homages to comic book heroes. Avian for Hawkman, Burstinatrix for Firestorm (maybe), the list goes on. In fact, there are plenty of cards that are homages to other things.
After recently getting back into Yu-Gi-Oh, I decided to continue finishing my dream deck, the CyberRoid deck (consisting of Cyber Dragon cards and Vehicroid cards obviously). I know it won't be great, but I've always wanted to build one so I don't care. I can always turn around and sell the cards and maybe make a profit
... and then you can have people side Cyber Dragons & System Down on you all day. If only there was some way to reformat our machines into beast-machine type monsters, hehe. Seriously though, building our dream decks of sorts is always nice, especially when it gets to a point that we can't afford to keep at it like crazy.
Finally found some LC02s at Target! Used most of my allowance to get two. : D However, I didn't find some of the cards I wanted. Oh well, I have cards that I can trade/sell now.
