You must be new to torrents. They are great if you can get them during the initial rush when lots of people are seeding and they suck ass if you are late to the party. Direct download links FTW.

Funny that people still use Torrents. Especially when Torrent downloads are easier to monitor and people get caught easier for spreading pirated stuff.

I had that problem a while back, but Dark Prime reuploaded it. I downloaded it the other night with no problems. Maybe there's a problem again?

I don't really see how anyone could be fairly prosecuted for sharing a TV show that is oft available as a stream on the internet for free. And that has no DVD/BluRay release for the main series.

But then I think the same about Movies that have gone out of print in DVD and have been shown on TV to prosecute someone for sharing say Casablanca would just be perverse.

The copyright owner has the sole right to distribution, the means of distribution they employ or the availability of the copyrighted work is irrelevant. It might affect the quantum of damages they can claim, but not the fact that they can sue.

He just updated the front page; links are inactive though. I'm sure he's working on it.

    Other Laws people like to ignore ;

    1) Speed limits
    2) Second hand Book and DVD and Games sales.

I don't see very many shops being told they can only have new games if they don't sell the second hand ones.

If someone used an old school Videotape bought or otherwise and gave it to someone else to lend or keep would they be breaking the rules of distribution ad the rules apply to the purchaser and not the final user ?

What if you donwloaded something of a paysite and then had your computer stolen and lost it and then redownloaded it for free - you have already payed for and can prrove you have done so >>>

    Fun thoughts anyway.

Anyway if I want to see Thundercats I have no other options beside watching it ONline. anything else other than Prime I'd not bother though.

I'd actually like to buy the discs as collectables so it would be nice to be able to do so - except when they don't exist such as with TF Animated.

Did any one ever find that thread equivillant to this for Animated ? or did all the season 3 stuff get taken down too just because some of the earlier ones got some sort of release in some markets.

I'll miss second hand book sales and free libraries and games on disks as I think they have more last ability to them.

I'm not exactly sure how this applies to the subject of copyright infringement or general IP law.

Doing so would be an infringement of copyright. In real life, it'll never be brought to court, as damages would be so limited that it would have cost the copyright owner far more to bring the matter to court. And that's purely from a monetary perspective, it will also likely result in a PR disaster.

This is where legal language and everyday vernacular diverge. The scenario you're describing is what would be understood by the layman as 'theft'. However, in copyright law, there is no such thing as theft.

A copyright owner has several exclusive rights in relation to the property, depending on what class of copyright it falls into. In every class, distribution is an exclusive right.

In your scenario however, theft would often be dealt with the tort of larceny. Such a tort doesn't exist in copyright law. The usual remedy for the copyright owners is to sue based on illegal distribution. That's why in almost all copyright cases, the copyright owner sues distributors and not simple end users.

Mainstream media often oversimplifies the matter, stating people have been sued for downloading pirated movies. But that's not the legal reason why they've been sued, its because these people often use torrents, which upon finishing the download, seeds the file as well, making that person a distributor.

I apologize if I come off as rude but what's the hold up? It seems like it's taking longer for the link to go live.
