Oh wow, I don't know if I'd be able to resist a Shockwave reissue. I wouldn't consider this a guarantee of anything, but it is interesting.

I don't know, considering what they did to G1 Megs by making him that weird taupe plastic color, I'd be worried that they'd do something similarly bad to G1 Shockwave. Regardless, I'm not convinced we'll see a 2-pack for him anyway.

The original Takara release of Megatron was unchromed. This is a homage to that release.

Great news for many, but the Chronicles prices tags are too heavy for my taste.

As mentioned the first 3 releases of Megatron by Takara all used this color (or something close to it) over chrome. Megaplex did as well (which also uses the blue of the first Takara Megatron release).

Ehhhh I guess I can accept that. Still seems like a very happy coincidence that this reissue has colors that perfectly match the DOTM counterpart as opposed to the far more memorable shiny silver chrome everyone associates to G1 Megs. Not an argument - just an observation.

    This has got my attention...

If they don't have the rights to the toy, you would think they wouldn't be able to produce images of it either on current retail merchandise.

I think you just pointed out the best reason why something may be up here.

If they didn't somehow have rights to the Shockwave IP, you'd wonder why they were able to put the image on their box. Maybe they own the character image, but not the toy mold? I don't know....I'm not a lawyer, so I don't know the intricacies of IP law. Still, seeing this certainly isn't a bad sign. I, like many, would LOVE to get an official Shockwave reissue for my collection.

That's just it. All that can be known for sure is that however they used the image they did so legally. Now the question is, are they allowed to use the image as long as it refers to G1 Shockwave or are we actually getting G1 Shockwave?

Personally I think we are getting one. There is no reason to use the image to advertise a figure that doesn't belong to them. Second, I heard that Shockwave is owned by TOYBOX which is also the company that owned Skylynx and Omega Supreme, which is also the company that was bought by Tomy, Tomy being the company that merged with Takara to give us said Skylynx and Omega Supreme reissue.

I'd buy it alone just for G1 Shockwave.

A shame for me as a TF fan that I have never played a Shockerwave.
I won't miss shocky this time!

Would be nice if they released these in the states (if this continues) I remember seeing mockups a few years back for "vintage" Joes with ROC/25th counterparts, but that never happend outside of the Target Snowjob vehicle set.

It is my understanding that TOYCO owns (or owned) the Astromagnum mold. I don't know if this company was bought by another company or if the rights to the mold were transferred to somebody else.

TOYBOX produced Sky Lynx and Omega Supreme. Both were among the IP gained by TT when Takara and Tomy merged.
