    Either this or
the tatical and snarky second in command from Armada.

Make him kind of like the Iron Man to OP's Captain America. Get Marc Worden to voice him and I'll watch the show with a passion

Both, G1 inspired as "autobot scientist Skyfire", and movie homage "old wizard Jetfire" as a Unicron betrayer, who helps (yet disgusts) Starscream.

TFA twins (Flameblast and Froststorm?) are a Punch & counterpunch Herald of primus type combiner, that's the originator of either the "relatives" relationship in Cybertronians, OR the male/female variance.

    Just my ideas.

I'm going to go with a Jetfire that amalgamates features and traits of his G1 and ROTF incarnations. He could be an aged scientific explorer of worlds, perhaps one of a small number still functioning from Cybertron's earliest days. He'd transform into some kind of old-fashioned Cybertronian exploration vessel and he'd be knowledgeable in ancient Cybertronian sciences and possess accumulated data collected from various worlds.

Honestly, mix of the two. You know, old, cranky scientist, preferably British.

I'm all for amalgated character homages and all that jazz, but I'd prefer a Prime version of Jetfire to be more like ROTF Jetfire than the G1 Hi-I'm-Captain-Scientist-McBland tosspot. I love ROTF Jetfire, the old codger.

I would be interested for them to do Jetfire kind of like they did in the comics. So far in TFP we haven't seen the matrix in action, so maybe MECH builds a non-sentient(or piloted) Jetfire and then after the 'bots defeat it, Ratchet fixes it and Optimus gives him life. So just lkike the introduction in the comic, just with MECH instead of the 'cons building him. As far as his characterization it would be nice if he didn't really have one at first, kind of like a newborn growing into a person over time he could evolve a personality.

ROTF Jetfire easily, I'd much rather have an actual character.

I'd use the 'scientist buddy of Starscream' origin for him, and have him show up as being recruited to help Starscream in his whole 'independent operations,' and have him end up helping the Autobots or even siding with them against Screamer. Though I'd love them to throw in numerous homages to other Jetfires, perhaps make him cranky and/or give him one of their accents.

RotF was a horrible excuse for a movie, but one of the few things it had that was objectively better than any other TF continuity was Jetfire.

G1! I hated RotF Jetfire. He was old, grouchy, couldn't fly and walked with a cane--THAT'S NOT COOL!

Say what you will about G1, but at least G1 Jetfire/skyfire kicked @$$ and knew how to fly and save the day;)

I like the old cranky bot that is slightly insane but it can still whoop ass. So, yeah, insane scientist Jetfire.

I just remembered, Split Lip did an awesome Jetfire design for TFP once.

You can even HEAR him saying "I TOLD YOU MY NAME IS JETFIRE, STOP JUDGING ME!".

Actually, he was perfectly able to fly [he arrived in Egypt in his bitchin' Blackbird mode that is way more awesome than G1-Jetfire's generic plane mode] and he killed the shit out of Mixmaster and Scorponok within, what, 2 seconds at most? His cane is also an axe.

Did you watch the same movie I did, dude?

I'm starting to hate RoTF more.

We already have one Grumpy Cool Old Guy who's very intellectual. Why be repetitive?

That would be like having Bulkhead and Ironhide in the same team.

Why not have Wheelie on Team Prime as well? Then,we can have two kid-appeal characters

A good writing team will have distinct personalities for each character so it won't feel repetitive.

I either hope he's either like this Jetfire
    Jetfire (Armada) - Transformers Wiki

or this one since it's supposed to be in the same continuity.

^What? Jetfire is a Large Ham [Tvtropes,TVtropes] old mentor with lots of knowledge in history [all in all, he pretty much lived all Cybertronian history in ROTF].

Is most likely that he would serve as a "mentor" [of the "Drill Sergeant, Sink-or-swim" type] and source of Cybertronian-history knowledge than anything else.

And your logic fails on something: You're complaining ROTF-Jetfire is redundant, but G1-Jetfire is even more Redundant because we already have a science-guy here [Ratchet].

Prime-Ratchet and ROTF-Jetfire don't look crap like each other, Jetfire is completely batshit insane and senile, also nostalgic and very over-the-top on his ways.

It really annoys me how everyone says that every aged character is the same [same thing with Kup and ROTF-Jetfire: They don't look crap like each other aside the fact they're old, but people say they're indentical].

As long as he's Starscreams long lost BFF I don't care because it's going to be cool anyway.

G1-esque Mr Nice McKind would be a new character archetype on TFPs set so it wouldn't be so bad (if they wouldn't make him a bland character). But on the other hand old coot GrouchyFire was so entertaining that I guess I'd rather have him join the cast and be his awesome batshit crazy self.
He's cranky, Screamer's cranky- I'd love to see them being cranky together.

Armada!Jetfire was also very cool but I think his place was already taken by Arcee (and maybe Cliffjumper).
But I have a feeling that, considering Dreadwing appears in season 2, we might not see him anytime soon (unless they are going to elaborate more on the whole seeker thing).

G1 Jetfire or something similar, the movie jetfire was ridiculus, and the TF animated jetfires were gay.

As long as he's not a russian acrobat that turns into a broken F-Zero machine I'm fine.
